Earth, Moon, and Sun
Our class will be reading a science unit about Earth, the moon, and the sun. This
unit includes articles that will teach the class about space. It also includes poems and
a folktale about the sun. In this unit, students will learn how day and night are created
by the movement of Earth around its axis and how the movement of Earth around the
sun creates the seasons. They will also learn about the phases of the moon and why
the moon appears to change shape every night.
You can help your child understand the challenging concepts in this unit by
discussing the ideas presented and helping your child complete the assignments in
these letters. If you have a globe at home, have your child use it to demonstrate some
of the concepts introduced in this unit. If you do not have a globe, have your child use
a ball or other round object.

Visits to the library and research on the Internet may be particularly helpful during
this unit. Your child may want to explore one aspect of astronomy in further detail

Nuestra clase va a leer una unidad de ciencia sobre la Tierra, la luna y el sol. Esta
