Today in the Traditional Calendar we celebrate the Third Sunday of Pentecost. In the Novus
Ordo Calendar it is the tenth Sunday in Ordinary
time. This Sunday marks the one year anniversary
of the Juventutem Group that was established in
the Diocese under leadership of Lucy Shopen of
our parish. This group of young people are especially fond of the Latin Mass and their love for the
Tradition of our Church is the bond that unites
them. If anyone is interested in joining Juventutem
you can let me know and I would be glad to put
you in touch with Lucy.
Another new group that is forming in the
parish is the Tau Maria Third Ored Franciscan
community. This group seeks to follow the primitive rule of St. Francis of Assisi and live a life of
prayer and penance. They follow a rule rule of life
and sets out for them a program of fasting and
prayer and good works. Erick Bell is the leader and
the meetings are once a month on Sunday evenings.
We are starting a new month and one that is
especially dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Catholics are encouraged to strive to have a strong
devotion to the Sacred Heart and find much comfort and solace in the mercy and love of Jesus especially evident through the Sacrament of Penance.
Confessions are offered regularly in the parish on
Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 4:00 p.m.
to 5:00 p.m. and again every Tuesday, Wednesday,
and Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. and half
hour before the Sunday Masses when priest are
available.
I will be leaving the parish in capable hands
of Father Fasching and our wonderful staff. I am
leaving for my annual retreat and home visit to
Ohio to see my family. While I am gone we will
continue to have the 7:00 a.m. daily Latin Mass,
the 8:30 a.m. daily English Mass including Satur-
June 5, 2016
days, and the Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays Spanish Masses at 7:00 p.m. Next week we
will have a visit from Father Samuel Alloggia of the
Food for the Poor. He will be Preaching at the
Masses and drawing attention to the plight of the
poor in the hopes of touching our hearts to share our
recourses with those in need. During the weekdays
Father John Kavalcin will be here to celebrate the
8:30 a.m. Mass. Father Kavalcin is a retired military
Chaplin with a Ph. D. in marriage and Family Therapy work. Father Elkin will also offer a few Masses
including the 12:30 p.m. Mass on June 19th. I am
so grateful for the willingness of these priest to
cover for us while I am gone. Please show them
your usual courtesy and gratitude. God willing I will
return on June 20th in the afternoon.
In the meantime I hope you will each have a
great two weeks and stay healthy and happy!!
Sincerely yours,
Father Timothy Davison

St. Toribio Carnival
Thanks everyone for working so hard on the St.
Toribio Carnival. The Final are not quite in but it
looks likely that the Carnival has brought in over
$8,000.00 after expenses have been paid. That is
really good and that money will go toward reducing
the debt on the new chapel. That debt now stands at
$45,565.71. Slowly but surely it is disappearing.
Thanks to all of our benefactors. If anyone would
like to help us reduce it even further please write
check a check to Sts. Peter and Paul Church and Put
“for the St. Toribio Chapel” on the memo of the
check.
Yours Gratefully,
Father Timothy Davison
