APTT (Academic Parent Teacher Teams)
have Arrived At Scott!
September 16th, 2014 was the beginning of something
great at Scott Dual Language Magnet School...APTT!
Academic Parent Teacher Teams are a partnership
between teachers and parents. The “teams” come together
in order to help students achieve at high academic levels.
Research shows that when parents and teachers work
together using student data, great success happens for
students.
In an APTT meeting, parents and teachers come
together for a meeting in the classroom. The teacher
reviews and explains grade level academic data, and then
confidentially provides parents with their own child’s
academic data. The teacher and the parents work together
to create a “Smart Goal” for their student. “Smart Goals”
are realistic academic goals that can be attained over a
specific period of time. Parents and teachers then commit
to working with their student on the goal until the next
meeting where new goals will be set.
During the October 22nd and 23rd conference times,
your child’s teacher will be sharing data and setting goals
with you in these private conference type meetings. On
February 18th and 19th, we will hold our next group APTT
meeting in the classrooms. Please make plans now to
attend both of these important meetings! We need YOU on
the team!

¡APTT (Equipo académico de padres/maestros)
ha llegado a la escuela Scott!
El 16 de septiembre del 2014, fue el comienzo de algo
grande en Scott escuela imán en dos idiomas… ¡APTT!
Equipos académicos de padres y maestros, son una
colaboración entre padres y maestros . Los "equipos" se unen
con el fin de ayudar a los estudiantes a alcanzar altos niveles
académicos. Las investigaciones demuestran que cuando los
padres y los maestros trabajan juntos utilizando datos de los
estudiantes, ocurre un gran éxito para los estudiantes.
En una reunión del A PTT, padres y profesores se reúnen
para una reunión en el salón de clases. El maestro examina y
explica los datos académicos de nivel de grado, y luego de
forma confidencial provee a los padres con los datos
académicos de su propio hijo. El maestro y los padres trabajan
juntos para crear una "meta inteligente " para sus estudiantes.
"Las metas inteligentes" son las metas académicas realistas
que pueden alcanzarse en un período de tiempo específico. Los
padres y los maestros se comprometen a trabajar con sus hijos
en sus metas, hasta la próxima reunión en la que se
establecerán nuevas metas.
Durante los días de conferencias del 22 y 23 de octubre,
el maestro de su niño va a compartir datos y establecerá metas
con ustedes en estas reuniones de tipo conferencias privadas.
El 18 y 19 de febrero , vamos a tener nuestra siguiente reunión
del grupo A PPT en las aulas. ¡Por favor haga planes para
asistir a ambas reuniones importantes! ¡Los necesitamos en el
equipo!

Annual Field Day!
October 9th
Our very creative PE teachers has put together another great
field day for our kids with new and exciting activities.
Our Pre-K—1st and half of the 2nd grade will participate
from 9-11:20 AM. The remaining 2nd grade and 3rd–5th
grade will be at 1-3:10 PM.
ALL students MUST wear tennis shoes and comfor table
clothing. All activities and water sports are for Scott students
only!. Please NO dogs allowed at Field Day and there is NO
smoking allowed on school property.
Halloween Parade!
Come join us on Friday,
October 31st, starting at 2:30, for our
annual Halloween parade!
*Make up day is October 13th*
Family Fun Night was a success! Thanks go out to
the families that attended and played math and reading
games. Students also enjoyed the popcorn and prizes.

Scott escuela imán en dos idiomas
¡Desfile de Halloween!
¡ Día anual de actividades!
9 de octubre
Nuestro equipo muy creativo de maestros de educación física han
creado otro gran día de diversion para nuestros niños con actividades
nuevas y emocionantes. Nuestros preescolares y la mitad de estudiantes del 2do grado, participarán desde las 9:00 - 11:20 a.m. y el
resto de estudiantes de 2do grado, el 3er grado hasta el 5to grado
participarán de 1:00 a 3:10 p.m.
Únase a nosotros, el viernes 31 de
octubre comenzando a las 2:30 p.m. en
nuestro desfile anual de Halloween
TODOS los estudiantes DEBERÁN usar zapatos tenis y ropa
cómoda. ¡Todas las actividades y deportes acuáticos son sólo para
los estudiantes de Scott! Por favor, NO se permiten perros en el día
de las actividades y NO es permitido fumar en la propiedad escolar.
*Día alternativo para las actividades será el 13 de octubre*
La noche de diversión familiar fue un éxito! Nuestro
agradecimiento a las familias que asistieron y jugaron juegos de
matemáticas y lectura. Los estudiantes también disfrutaron de las
palomitas de maíz y premios.
¡Marquen sus calendarios! El tema para nuestra noche de diversión
familiar del 5 de mayo del 2015 es: “Leer es una fiesta”.

Octubre de 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. Acompáñenos para aprender matemáticas y juegos de lectura para jugar con su niño/a.

Bulling is:
Hurtful
Done on purpose
Done again and again
Wrong
How parents can help their child is being bullied
· Never tell your child to ignore the bullying
· Don’t blame your child for being bullied.
· Don’t assume your child did something to provoke the bullying.
· Allow your child to talk about the bullying experiences.
· Be understanding with your child. Tell them that bullying is wrong, that it is not their fault, and that you are glad they had the
courage to tell you about it.
· If you disagree with how your child handled the bullying situation, don’t criticize them. It is often very difficult for children to
know how best to respond.
· Check YOUR emotions. A parent’s protective instincts stir strong emotions. Although it is difficult, step back and
consider the next steps carefully.
· Contact your child’s teacher, school counselor, or principal immediately and share your concerns about the bullying that your
child has experienced and work closely with the school to help solve the problem.
· Encourage your child to make contact with friendly students in his or her class, or help your child meet new friends outside of
school.
· Teach your child safety strategies, such as how to seek help from an adult.

the partnership with students’ homes is PRICELESS!

PTO is happy to announce the sale of our Scott Super Power shirt! Look for order forms to come home Oct 9th, and sales
will go through Oct 23rd.
Come out and support our school by eating at CiCi’s Pizza (Topeka Blvd) Oct. 14th.
Yum! Yum! Yum! If you volunteered to bring snacks or dirinks for our wonderful teachers during parent teacher
conferences, please have your delicious dishes or beverages to the school by 3:30 PM on Wed. Oct 22nd.

¿Cómo los padres pueden ayudar a su hijo que está siendo intimidado?
· Nunca le diga a su hijo que ignore la intimidación escolar.
· No culpe a su hijo por ser intimidado.
· No asuma que su hijo hizo algo para provocar la intimidación.
· Deje que su hijo hable acerca de las experiencias de intimidación.
· Sea comprensivo con su hijo. Dígale que la intimidación no está bien, que no es su culpa, y que usted se alegra de que tenga el
coraje de contarle.
· Si usted está en desacuerdo con la forma en que su hijo se encargó de la situación de intimidación, no lo critique. Con frecuencia es
muy difícil que los niños sepan cual es la mejor forma de responder.
· Revise SUS emociones. El instinto de protección de un padre produce emociones fuertes. Aunque es difícil, dar un paso
atrás y considerar los próximos pasos cuidadosamente.
· Póngase en contacto con el maestro de su hijo, el consejero escolar, o el director de inmediato y comparta sus preocupaciones sobre
la intimidación que su hijo ha experimentado y trabaje de cerca con la escuela para ayudar a resolver el problema.
· Anime a su hijo a tomer mas contacto con los estudiantes amistosos en su clase, o ayude a su hijo a conocer nuevos amigos fuera
de la escuela.
· Enseñe a sus niños estrategias de seguridad , tales como la forma de buscar la ayuda de un adulto.
