The Mission of Christ, the Good Shepherd Parish is to celebrate the Sacraments,
share our heritage and traditions, and support one another in living and sharing our faith in this community and
throughout the world.
32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time
November 8, 2015
GIVING ALL
Trusting widows play a significant role in this
weekend’s readings. At the point of poverty, when
giving even the smallest amount of what they had
could imperil their health and well-being, they
trusted God and gave anyway. What is important
about their giving is not what or how much they
gave, but how they gave it. Without selfishness,
they gave to help others. Their giving was from
the heart, with little hope or intention of receiving
any sort of reward or recognition for their
generosity. The monetary values of the widows’
gifts were small, but their value measured in the
Kingdom was priceless.
There is a significant similarity between their
gift and the gift Jesus gave each of us. The
widows offered their lives for God. Jesus offered
his life for us.

Un Mensaje del
Pastor
Last week, we began the month of November, the
month during which the Church remembers the dead
in a special way. The All Soul’s envelopes will be
present at our weekend Masses for the entire month.
And, of course, we continue to offer our Masses
remembering our deceased relatives and friends with
the intentions at Mass. You are able now to call the
office and schedule a Mass for the coming year.
And, you may also want to enroll your loved one in
the Memorial Mass Association.
At funerals, I always tell the family that their loved
one will be remembered in prayer by me and this
parish community. Scheduling these intentions at
Mass is one important way that our parish
community can support bereaving families. Also as
a consolation to the families, each year, we offer a
Mass of Remembrance, remembering those from the
parish, who have died this past year. I hope that
many of you are able to come to the Mass of
Remembrance on Friday, November 13, at 6pm and
support this work of mercy.
Pope Francis has called for a Year of Mercy,
beginning in December. I was glad to see him,
when I was in Rome for the Beatification of Bl. Teresa Casini. And, I was glad to remember you and
the parish in prayer at the holy sites of Rome.
An important way for us to receive mercy is through
the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Confessions are
scheduled each week on Saturday, or at any time by
appointment. I am adjusting our Confession
schedule immediately. I will now begin hearing
Confessions at 3:15pm on Saturday (instead of
3pm).
Also, I hope that many of you are able to attend the
Veteran’s Day Service at 6:30pm on November 11,
while we remember and support our veterans. And,
in anticipation of our February 6th Indoor Festival,
which will be in the spirit of Mardi Gras, our next
planning meeting will be Monday, November 16 at
6pm.
God bless you,
Fr. Conoboy
Usted
recordamos y apoyamos a nuestros veteranos.
6pm.
Que Dios te bendiga,
Padre Conoboy

STEWARDSHIP OF TREASURE
November 8, 2015 - 32nd Ordinary Sunday
“I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the other
contributors to the treasury. For they all contributed out of their
abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she
had, her whole living.” (Mark 12:43-44) Jesus gets right to the
point – we are all called to give money to support the mission
of the Church, regardless of our circumstance. No gift is too
small or insignificant! Giving money to support the mission of
our local parish is a matter of our faith, just like praying and
participating in parish ministries. When you make a financial
offering, is it from your “first fruits” or from what is “left
over”?
"sobra"?

Christ, the Good Shepherd Mass Intention Schedule 2016
In order for everyone to receive a Mass you may request one (1) Mass, per family, but
only two (2) weekend Masses for the same deceased family member. At the end of the
scheduling week if there are some openings left you may schedule another Mass.
(Example of family: M/M and children, widowed parent living with children, adult son
or daughter living with parents, and must have envelopes.) If your loved one has Masses
in the Funeral Mass Intention Book your request may come from the Mass book unless
you wish your Mass request be from your family. The Mass in the Funeral Mass
Intention Book will then be offered by one of the retired priests of our diocese. (If you
wish other Masses said for a loved one, we would be happy to send them to the retired
priests of our diocese.)
Mass requests are taken on a first-come, first-served basis and the stipend ($10.00) must
accompany the request. Mass intentions will not be accepted for Holy Thursday, Easter
Vigil, Easter Sunday, Christmas Eve/Day, Mothers Day, Fathers Day and Special Feast
Days.
“WHY DO WE HAVE MASS INTENTIONS FOR LOVED ONES, AND WHY
DO WE HAVE MASSES FOR THE PEOPLE OF THE PARISH?”
Mass Intentions for loved ones who have died, reflects well the Biblical passage of 2 Maccabees 12:43-46,
which focuses on praying for the dead. We also celebrate special days for our living friends, such as
anniversaries. Obviously, we keep in our prayers, at any Mass, our loved ones, both living and deceased,
as well as our own special concerns. Masses for the “People of the Parish” are set aside to remind us to
pray for each other.
2016 REQUEST SCHEDULE
The 2016 Mass Intention Book is open for your requests beginning Monday, November 9
Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 3:00 pm (not Wednesday)
