Dear Community of St. Augustine,
“The Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was
lost.” (Lc 19: 10)
This weekend, St. Luke’s Gospel presents us God’s mercy in the
life of Zacchaeus. Like Zacchaeus, we are ALL sinners; yet, God
also wants to stay in our homes to forgive us and to give us salvation. In order to meet Jesus, Zacchaeus had to make an effort,
being such a short man; he had to climb on a tree. How about us?
What do we have to do to be able to see Jesus?
What efforts must we do to find salvation?
On November 1st we will celebrate the Solemnity
of All Saints. This feast reminds us that as baptized Catholic Christians we are called to holiness.
And on November 2nd as we remember All Souls,
we pray to the Lord in a special way for all those
who went to meet Him in the hope of the resurrection. May the Lord grant them the peace and joy
of eternal life and may perpetual light shine for
them!
November is also election month! This is a very
important moment in the life of our country. There
are many questions about what our future will be
and we, the American people have a saying in this
regard. As citizens, It is our right and our duty to cast our vote!
In the bulletin you will find a document issued by the Conference
of Catholic Bishops of Florida giving us a brief summary of the
campaign of both presidential candidates.
It is my hope that the main points addressed in this document will
help you to make a wise and conscientious decision. May our
Lord guide us all!
Querida Comunidad de San Agustín,
“El Hijo del hombre ha venido a buscar y a salvar lo que se había
perdido”. (Lc 19: 10)
Este fin de semana, el Evangelio de San Lucas nos presenta la
misericordia de Dios en la vida de Zaqueo. Al igual que Zaqueo,
TODOS nosotros somos pecadores; pero Jesús también quiere
hospedarse en nuestra casa para perdonarnos y darnos la salvación. Para encontrarse con Jesús Zaqueo tuvo que
hacer un esfuerzo, subirse a un árbol, pues era
pequeño de estatura. Nosotros: ¿Qué tenemos que
hacer para poder ver a Jesús? ¿Para encontrar la
salvación?
El primero de Noviembre celebraremos la Solemnidad de “Todos los Santos” esta fiesta nos recuerda que al ser bautizados todos estamos llamados a
la santidad. Y el día 2, al recordar a “Todos los
fieles difuntos”, le pedimos al Señor por todos
aquéllos que se durmieron con la esperanza de la
resurrección. Que el Señor les conceda a todos el
descanso eterno y que brille para ellos la luz perpetua.
Noviembre es también el mes de las elecciones.
Este es un momento muy importante en la vida de nuestro país.
Hay muchas interrogantes sobre cuál será nuestro futuro, y nosotros, el pueblo americano, tenemos algo que decir sobre esto.
¡Votar es nuestro derecho y nuestro deber de ciudadanos! En el

(All Soul’s Day) to be celebrated on November 2nd at the 9 AM mass and the 7 PM
mass. At the designated time, those who purchased a candle will be invited to proceed
up the center aisle, hand their candle to the Deacons who will light the candles and place
them on the altar for the remainder of the service. At the end of the Mass you will be
invited to retrieve your candle, take it home to be burned as you pray for your loved
ones. Please be sure to place the candle on a dish or votive stand.
Cost of the candle is $5.00.
