Christopher SUNDAY, JULY 31 AT 5PM GYM Reunion de Despedida para el Padre Christopher Domingo, 31 de Julio a las 5PM, Gimnasio 915 Zoe St., Houston, TX 77020 713-675-5333 www.rcchouston.org EIGHTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Dear People of Resurrection Catholic Community, With sadness and gratitude I say farewell and God's blessings to all of you as I move to my new assignment as pastor of St. Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church, in Katy, Texas. Over the past five years serving you has filled me with joy and deepened my friendship with Jesus. I drew closer to Him by loving the ones whom He loves. I have witnessed the Holy Spirit at work as we have grown spiritually and as a community. Through our financial generosity, that of Prince of Peace parish, and other benefactors, we were able to renovate our campus with urgently needed repairs and further beautification of our environment. We worked hard together to develop our leadership through the chartering of several new or renewed parish ministries and organizations. Our youth ministry has become a revitalizing force for our young people, who in turn are becoming leaders in our parish community. The school, even through so much adversity, has made significant progress in enrollment and quality of education. The newly formed social concerns ministry has already led the people of RCC to be a force of social justice in the Denver Harbor community, a visible sign that the spiritual responsibility of our parish extends beyond 915 Zoe Street. The list goes on. We have much to offer in thanksgiving to our Lord. I am happy to have been a part of this story of Resurrection Catholic Community. There are so many I want to thank but there would not be enough space in this newsletter to include an exhaustive list. So I want to simply thank my parents who taught me the faith and exemplified it in their service of the Gospel. Many thanks to the staff and key volunteers who have worked and continue to work tirelessly in the vineyard of RCC. I thank Cardinal DiNardo for trusting me when he assigned me here as a new pastor (and relatively new priest). I am grateful to have known and served with Fr. Blas Herrador, may he rest in peace. Finally, thanks to all of you for being such a welcoming and loving family. Many changes were made to advance our mission as a parish and you remained open to them, even if you did not necessarily agree to them or completely understand them. This speaks volumes about the soul, humility and character of the people of RCC. For this reason I am confident that the RCC family will bear much fruit in the years to come under the leadership of Fr. Oscar Dubon. In the name of Jesus, welcome him as you welcomed me. Be assured of my prayers for all of you every day for the rest of my life. You are and will always remain my first parish as a pastor. For that reason, you will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you and God's peace and blessings remain upon you. Me acerque mas a Èl amando a aquellos a quienes Èl ama.
