PARISH PRIESTS TO BE AWAY NEXT WEEK
Our priests will be in Loomis Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday next week for a special meeting. There will be
no Masses or confessions on those days. A Communion
Service will be held at the Mass times each day. The
Mass intentions will be said in Loomis.

October is the month of the Rosary
“Not a religious trinket or corny, outdated Catholic devotion, the Rosary, I have come to learn, is a vital, powerful, attractive, effective means of prayer – indeed, the
perfect prayer…” (by Greg Tobin from his forward in
the book, Real Men Pray the Rosary), available in the
Marello Bookstore.
Matthew Kelly, in his book, and on his CD, The Four
Signs of a Dynamic Catholic, available in the Marello
Bookstore, identifies the first sign as a daily, disciplined
personal prayer life. Praying the Rosary daily, as an individual, as a couple, or as a family, can put you well on
the way of being a “Dynamic Catholic.” I read somewhere that every canonized saint in the last 500 years
has had the discipline of praying the Rosary daily. What
are we waiting for? “Be a saint. What else is there!”

volunteering at the bookstore. As a volunteer you have
the opportunity to grow in your faith, help others grow in
theirs, and read books that help your spiritual journey

LOVE A GOOD MYSTERY?
In preparation for the upcoming exposition of sacred
relics, Fr. Gustavo will show the documentary, The
Mystery of Murdered Saints. For the first time, the
Catholic Church allowed scientific experts to openly test
the authenticity of the remains of Sts. Chrysanthos and
Daria. Are the relics genuine or fake? Come and watch
the mystery solved. Today, Sunday, 2 pm, Room 42.
TREASURES OF THE CHURCH
St. Joachim Parish presents a teaching and exposition of
Sacred Relics on Friday October 25 at 6 pm in the
church. Father Carlos Martins of the Companions of the
Cross will bring with him over 150 relics of saints, some
as old as 2000 years.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
If you are looking for a way to become more
involved in the parish and experience the
joy of giving, please consider volunteering
at the Holy Family Table. Meals are
served everyday at Griffin Hall from 8 to
9:30 am. We are especially in need of a
crew chief to be in charge of food preparation on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each

PILGRIMAGE TO THE SHRINE OF ST. JOSEPH
SJIM (Family of St. Joseph) has chartered a bus to attend
the annual pilgrimage to the Shrine of St. Joseph in Santa
Cruz Saturday, October 26 The cost of $40 per person
( non-refundable) includes lunch. You may pay at the

WORLD MISSION SUNDAY
Today is World Mission Sunday. We are called to
this Eucharistic Celebration and invited to “do good
on earth,” to be missionary by putting our faith into
action in support of the work of the missionaries.
Your prayers and generous gifts to the Society for the
Propagation of the Faith today support the tireless
work of so many priests, religious and lay leaders
around the world as they offer practical, emotional
and spiritual care to communities, children and families in desperate need, bringing the light of Christ to
the darkest circumstances.
