Collage
Creative art projects are an excellent way to spend time with your child. Remember
that art has a very personal interpretation. When doing an art project with your child,
make sure he knows that he can chose any material and use it in any way he wants.
There is no right or wrong way to create.
What your child will do
Create a picture.
What you need
•Contact paper
•Foam or construction paper shapes
What you do
1. Choose a piece of contact paper.
2. Fold back half of the paper to reveal the sticky part.
3. Place the shapes on the sticky side of the paper.
4. Pull the other half of the paper off and fold the two sticky sides together.
5. Describe your picture.
Questions to ask
What kinds of shapes do you want to use? What is your favorite color? Tell me about
your creation. How is your creation like mine? How is your creation different from
mine?
For parents
Model creativity for your child by making your own collage out of the shapes and
allowing your child to make his own project. Use this opportunity to talk about the
creations, positively reinforce the creativity used and share your own creativity.
