As of July 1st, I placed the 7am weekday Mass on hiatus until after Labor Day. For many years the 7am weekday Mass had an attendance of approximately 30 to 40 people or one percent of registered parishioners. That makes for a very long day. When I am out of town Father William has to celebrate both morning Masses on his day off and I have to do the same when he is out of town. It also has been difficult to find a visiting priests to celebrate this early Mass. The priests of the diocese are allowed and encouraged a day off with an overnight away from the parish. In order to provide the rest that a day off bring with it, we have eliminated the 7am weekday Mass permanently. The evenings at OLF are full of people from various groups and activities. Our hope is to include them more in the Sacraments of the Church, encouraging families and other professionals to avail themselves of the Word of God and the Eucharist at that evening hour. As with any Mass, we are in need of people to help prepare and minister at Mass. If you are able to help with the 6pm Mass on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, please contact Fr. William. 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time / 17º Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario 3 parish news and events JustFaith Program Groups Forming Are you seeking to live more deeply with a greater sense of purpose? There are two major ministries that serve those interested in becoming Catholic – sponsors and catechists & team members. Sponsors are members of the parish who are willing to walk with the catechumens and candidates throughout the process. Your duties are to be in contact with a catechumen or candidate once a week, helping them find answers to their questions. This ministry does not require prior experience or special training, just a welcoming spirit. Catechists & team members facilitate adult learning through small group gatherings. Catechists are required to move toward getting diocesan certification. Team members are parishioners who have a sincere interest in the catechumens & candidates welcoming them and encouraging them along their journey. Fourth of July Dinner Re-Cap On July 4th, The Knights Of Columbus hosted an OLF community celebration. It was a fantastic family event attended by over 200 people, who enjoyed a great BBQ dinner, a DJ and an awesome fireworks display. Proceeds from the celebration went to the OLF Building Fund and to various charities supported by the Knights.
