FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
First Reading: Deuteronomy 18:15-20
Moses explains to the people that a prophet will
come from among them, and that they should listen
to this prophet’s words, for God has told him of this
prophet. God also tells Moses that anyone who pretends to speak in his words, or speaks in the name
of other gods shall die.
Second Reading: I Corinthians 7:32-35
Paul tells the Corinthians how an unmarried man or
woman is able to devote themselves fully to God
without concern for the needs of a spouse. Paul explains that God wants to help them promote good
and devote themselves more fully to God.
Gospel: Mark 1:21-28
As Jesus was teaching, a man with an unclean spirit
came to the synagogue and asked if Jesus had come
to destroy them. Jesus ordered the spirit out of the
man, who shrieked violently as the spirit departed.
The people were amazed at the authority he had
over the spirit.

ST. PAULS CATHOLIC BOOK EXHIBIT
This weekend our parish of St. Mary has
a book exhibit. The Priests and Brothers
of the Society of St. Paul are bringing a
large selection of religious books that
serve children and adult religious interest. They
also offer a selection of religious articles. They
accept checks, major credit cards and cash.
EMPLOYMENT WORKSHOP
All parishioners interested can attend a
free workshop to teach how to fill out
employment applications. This workshop is this Sunday, January 29th after
the 10:30 Mass in the Marion Room,
conducted by Mr. Robert S. Walters, an expert in
this field. Besides filling out employment applications, other topics dealing with finding a job will be
explored such as job interviews, avoiding common
mistakes. All are invited!
FIRST CONFESSIONS
Students who are in their final year of
preparation to receive the Sacrament
of First Communion this May, namely
2nd grade and Level 2 students, will be
receiving their First Confessions this
February as part of their preparation. Parents of
these students, be advised that there are two dates
for this sacrament: English is February 11, 2012
at 9:00 AM in the church and Spanish February 18,
2012 10:30 AM in the church. If you have any questions speak with Fr. Pablo.
DIVINE MERCY CHARISMATIC GROUP
All are invited to our Spanish Divine
Mercy Charismatic Prayer Group as they
have two exciting events. They are offering on Friday, Feb at 8 PM, ‘The Story of
my Conversion’ by the seminarian Pedro Repollet
with music by Wilfredo Ortiz. On Friday Feb 10 at 8
PM, Fr. Bill Halbing will celebrate a ‘Healing Mass’
and Raphy & Yaniri will offer the music.

and youth (ages 12 and up) are beginning on Monday January 23, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. in
Spanish. The catechesis will be held every
Monday and Thursday for an extended period
of time conducted by members of the Neocatechumenal Way.
HALF-YEAR FINANCIAL REPORT
You will find today the financial report of our parish for the first half of this fiscal year, namely, since
July until December 2011. The publication of our
financial situation is for the sake of transparency in
our administration and for encouraging our parishioners to improve contributions to our parish. We
also need your ideas for improvement. A member of
the Finance Committee will speak at Mass to give an
oral report of our situation. For questions and comment, you can contact the chairman of our Finance
Council, Jack O’Malley.
WORLD DAY CONSECRATED LIFE
The universal Church celebrates
World Day for Consecrated Life. The
celebration will take place on Sunday,
February, 5 at the noon Mass at the
Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart.

tiene una exhibición de libros. Los sacerdotes y hermanos de la Sociedad de

TALLER
DE
EMPLEO
Todos los feligreses interesados en el taller
gratuito en inglés para enseñar como llenar solicitudes de empleo, pueden venir
este domingo, 29 de enero, después de la
misa de 10:30am en la sala mariana, que será dirigida por el Sr. Robert S. Walters, experto en este campo. Además de llenar solicitudes de empleo, los temas a tratar serán: cómo encontrar un puesto de trabajo, entrevistas y como evitar errores comunes.
CONFESIONES
Los estudiantes que se encuentran en su
último año de preparación para recibir
el Sacramento de Primera Comunión el
mes de mayo, es decir, de grado 2 y nivel 2, los alumnos van a recibir sus primeras confesiones este mes de febrero como parte
de su preparación. Los padres de estos alumnos,
tengan en cuenta que hay dos fechas de este sacramento: Inglés es 11 de feb., a las 9:00AM en la Iglesia, los de español es el 18 de feb., a las 10:30AM en

GRUPO CARISMATICO
Todos están invitados al Grupo de Oración Carismático de la Divina Misericordia, ya que tienen dos
eventos interesantes. El Grupo ofrecerá el viernes, 2
de febrero a las 8 pm, "La historia de mi conversión"
por el seminarista Pedro Repollet, con música de

KNOW YOUR FAITH: IS NOT GOING
In the Third Commandment, God tells us to
“Remember to keep holy the sabbath day.” For the
Jews, the sabbath was Saturday; Christians, however,
transferred the sabbath to Sunday, the day of Jesus
Christ’s resurrection from the dead. The Church tells
us that we have an obligation to fulfill the Third
Commandment by refraining from unnecessary work
on Sunday and by participating in the Mass, our
chief form of worship as Christians. From the earliest
days of the Church, Christians have understood that
being a Christian isn’t a private matter. We are called
to be Christians together; while we can and should
engage in the private worship of God throughout the
week, our primary form of worship is public and
communal, which is why Sunday Mass is so important. Thus, the Catechism of the Catholic Church
states (#2180-81) that “The precept of the Church
specifies the law of the Lord more precisely: "On
Sundays and other holy days of obligation the faithful are bound to participate in the Mass." "The precept of participating in the Mass is satisfied by assistance at a Mass which is celebrated anywhere in a
Catholic rite either on the holy day or on the evening
of the preceding day.
