Family Prayer L oving and faithful God, through the years the people of our archdiocese have appreciated the prayers and love of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in times of war, disaster, epidemic and illness. We come to you, Father, with Mary our Mother, and ask you to help us in the battle of today against violence, murder and racism. We implore you to give us your wisdom that we may build a community founded on the values of Jesus, which gives respect to the life and dignity of all people. Bless parents that they may form their children in faith. Bless and protect our youth that they may be peacemakers of our time. Give consolation to those who have lost loved ones through violence. Hear our prayer and give us the perseverance to be a voice for life and human dignity in our community. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us. Mother Henriette Delille, pray for us that we may be a holy family. 4:00 pm Mass Entrance Wait for the Lord Refrain Wait for the Lord, whose day is near. Wait for the Lord: be strong, take heart! 1. Apreciamos sus donaciones, pero no son necesarias “God is rich in mercy . . .” Ephesians 2:4 As we continue to prepare for Christmas, we hear about God’s plan for the birth of Jesus. Today we hear in the Gospel (Luke 1: 39-45, how Elizabeth tells Mary about the infant in her womb leaping for joy at the sound of her voice. “Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled”. The first reading also tells us more about God’s plan. We hear that Bethlehem is to be the city of Jesus’ birth. God’s plan is apparent. He always has a plan! Sometimes, we don’t understand or like God’s plan for our lives. This happened to the American professional surfer, Bethany Hamilton, at age 13 when a shark bit off her arm! Despite the circumstances, Bethany went on to become victorious in professional surfing. In the movie, Soul Surfer, the story about Bethany Hamilton and the shark attack, Bethany’s youth minister (played by actress Carrie Underwood) refers to the bible verse Jeremiah 29:11 which states, “For I know well the plans I have in mind for you—oracle of the LORD—plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope”. At Divine Mercy Parish’s “Life Nights” (every Sunday 7:00-8:45pm in the parish hall for 9th-12th graders) and “Edge” program (every Tuesday 6:45-8:00pm in the trailer at the SEAS site for 6th-8th graders) the high school and middle school youth of our parish and their friends discuss ways we can live out God’s plan for our lives as we prepare the way for The Lord. Through games, skits, free food, and prayer we share about the difficulties and sin that one may encounter in society today. Come and join us! Call the youth minister, Ryan Foulon, at the parish office for more information. Blessed be the fruit of your womb.”Deut 28:2-4 womb.” This week let us journey with Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem. Uncertainty and hardship were their constant companions as they traversed the rough terrain. And yet they had another amazing companion – trust! They looked beyond the cruel demands of their earthly rulers and instead focused on God the Father and His Kingdom. Immersed in His protection, they carried Jesus, the Son of God who was sheltered in Mary’s womb, to the eventual place of His birth. We too are uncertain about the future; however we must look beyond the demands of our earthly rulers and focus on the Kingdom of God. This is the reason for our birth; every step of our journey has brought us to this place in this time in history. Surely God will not desert us! We each have our special place in the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We are each beloved of the Father and guided by the Holy Spirit. Jesus sends us His Mother bearing graces for each one of us to guide us on our journey to Him. Let us be faithful to God’s laws, raise our eyes to heaven and rejoice as we look forward to the fulfillment of His promises. The Promoters of the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart wish you and your family all the blessings of the Christ Child this Christmas. May He bless you and protect you on your journey into His Heart. Bendito será el fruto de tus entrañas.” Deut.
