INTRODUCTION
The Student Chapter of University of Guanajuato was established on 31 August 2007 in the
Salamanca, Guanajuato city in the Division of Engineerings Campus Irapuato-Salamanca
Mexico.
Currently has 15 active members who are students of engineering, masters and doctoral
degrees.
The chapter objective is report on optics and photonics with courses, conferences and
workshops.
Since 2007 the SPIE Student Chapter of University of Guanajuato has worked to fulfill its
purpose and cooperate with the formation of the new leaders of tomorrow.
The chapter officers and advisor shown in the next table.

Participation in children in science club
In this program, the children visit the University every fourth month, activities are:
1. Visit the different laboratories and investigation areas.
2. Explain of Physical principles (what’s is light?, what is refraction, diffraction and
reflection?).
3. Why study engineering?
4. Fun with science.

1. Children academy of science 2013-2014.
2. To invite professors of our campus to show the students the investigation
projects that they are working on.
3. To exhibit movies and documentaries about optics and photonics to the
campus students.
4. To ask the professors to talk with the students about an specific project
and to invite them to form a part of it.
5. To participate on SPIE congresses.
6. To invite professors of other universities to give lectures about their
research projects in optics or photonics.
7. To invite international lectures using the SPIE grant.
