The Fira de Barcelona event creates the Product Awards 2010
Energy efficiency and innovation,
highlighted at InstalMAT
This year, the core topics at InstalMAT, Integral Installation Materials
Show, will be energy efficiency and innovation. In addition to products,
new features and services proposed by the exhibiting companies, the
event will host a packed activities programme, which will include the
second edition of its technical sessions: “Energy Efficiency Day”.
InstalMAT, which will open its doors from the 12th to 15th of May 2010 in
pavilion 1 of the Gran Via exhibition centre, will showcase all types of
solutions to installation professionals, such as engineers, architects,
builders, heads of maintenance, building administrators, promoters,
distributors, installation companies, suppliers and distributors of energy
and decorators, among others.
Energy Efficiency

Exhibits will be divided into twelve sectors: air conditioning, heating,
water, gas, electricity, home automation, telecommunications,
renewable energies, safety, regulation and control, mounting tools and
services.
Product Awards 2010
Air conditioning systems three times as efficient as traditional ones,
ecological boilers, and protective elements of electrical installation are
some of the proposals that will be presented at the first edition of
Product Awards 2010.
In a pioneer initiative, installation professionals can choose, via the
show’s website, the best product from among those selected to enter
the contest. Voters will take part in a draw for various Mini Toshibas
NB200.

The aim of the Awards is to recognise the quality and excellence of
exhibitors, highlight the opinion and experience of exhibitors and
contribute to boosting the sector. The awards ceremony will take place
after the end of the show.
CONAIF Congress
This year, InstalMAT will be held jointly with the 21st International
Congress of CONAIF for Installations and Energy, organised by the
Confederación Nacional de Asociaciones de Empresas de Fontanería,
Gas, Calefacción, Climatización, Protección contra Incendios,
Electricidad y Afines. The coincidence of these two major events

represents a new advance for the sector, making it a major meeting place for installation
professionals, which will showcase integral exhibits and provide the largest forum for debate and
reflection on the topics that will mark the future of installations.
The chairman of the show’s Organising Committee, Pere Miquel Guiu, stated that “InstalMAT is the
best platform for exchanging experiences and knowledge between the different agents involved in a
sector that has great economic impact in Spain, with an annual turnover of around 15,000 million
euros”.
Guiu also said that “from the show, we wish to contribute to recycling and continuous training of
professionals, essential aspects in the face of growing technological development and the necessary
adaptation of installations to new safety and quality regulations. For this reason, this year we are
again organising a packed programme of activities that will cover subjects on everyone’s lips and of
interest to the sector”.
Energy Efficiency Day
The current economic context and the forecast of a strong medium-term price increase make it
necessary to put greater effort into optimising energy consumption in the industrial and services
sectors, a key topic that will be at the centre of the InstalMAT technical sessions, which under the
heading “Energy Efficiency Day”, will take place on Wednesday, 12th of May, the show’s first day.
They have the aim of showing how to reduce energy costs of companies and to increase their
competitiveness, via examples and practical cases.
Sponsored by the companies ACV and Daikin, they are organised by the Institut Català d’Energia de
la Generalitat de Catalunya (ICAEN), the Colegio de Ingenieros Técnicos Industriales de Barcelona
(CETIB), the Clúster de Eficiencia Energética de Catalunya (CEEC), the Grup de Gestors Energètics
(GGE), the Asociación de Consultores de Instalaciones (ACI), the Colegio de Ingenieros Industriales de
Catalunya (EIC), the Asociación Catalana de Técnicos en Energía, Climatización y Refrigeración
(ACTECIR) and the Asociación Catalana de Empresas de Instalaciones y Mantenimiento (ACEIM).
They also have the collaboration of the Asociación de Gestores de Mantenimiento (AGEM), among

FERCA Conference
The application in Catalonia of the new Reglamento de Instalaciones Térmicas en los Edificios, RITE,
(Regulations on Heating Installations in Buildings) will be the main topic of another session.
Organised by the Federación Catalana de Asociaciones Territoriales de Empresarios Instaladores,
FERCA, its goal is for installation professionals to clarify their doubts about the correct application of
RITE administrative procedure. Various aspects will be covered, such as application instructions
existing in Catalonia and paperwork to be used in order to legalise installations. The conference,
which will take place on Thursday, 13th of May, will be given by Carles Kubesch, section head for
Heating Installations and Elevating Apparatus in Buildings, of the Catalan Generalitat.
InstalMAT will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., from Wednesday to Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on
Saturday. The show is biennial and held in even years.
