LET’S BE DISCIPLES Do I need to
be perfect before I can point out the
faults of others? Many good Catholic
disciples watch other disciples go
down the road to destruction because
they feel it is not their place to talk to
someone else about his or her sins
and failings. They tell themselves,
“Who am I to say anything? I have sins
too. I am not perfect. I am afraid that my friend will yell at me and call
me a hypocrite.” It is true that it is hypocritical to be committing the
exact the same sin as the person you would like to approach. So
change your ways and start helping others. Perfection is not a
requirement in Jesus’ teaching. We must ask ourselves if what we are
about to say is totally motivated out of love for the other person versus
our own selfish motives. We can follow the process Jesus offers in the
Scriptures today. It is also important to not only pray about the
situation, but to pray with the person you see going down the wrong
path. Where two or three gather in his name, Jesus is there.
In Baptism, each of us was made a prophet like Ezekiel. That means
we too are watchmen in the Church. It is not right to assume that we
cannot help other people because we are not yet perfect. Yet it is true
that you must be willing to listen to other disciples who come to talk
with you about your own faults. There is a lot at stake. So let’s be
disciples who care about other disciples. ©2014 Life Teen, Inc. All rights reserved.

1 Peter 4:10
In Saint Paul’s leƩer to the Romans he suggests that God lavishes his love
upon us through Jesus Christ, who calls us to the kind of loving relaƟonship,
if we so choose it, that demands accountability. It is like, in Saint Paul’s
vocabulary, a kind of “debt” that we can never “pay-in-full.” But we begin to
repay by following the direcƟon of one of the most familiar statements in
the Bible: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Good stewards realize that God
does not call them just to love those who are easy to love, but to love the
unloved and the hard-to-love people in this world as well. This week, remind
yourself: “I am put here as an ambassador of God’s love.”

This Gospel reminds me of a time in my
life when I failed to make things right
with a friend. I was hurt by his actions,
failed to talk to him about it, and
ultimately failed to forgive him. I skipped
the parts of the Gospel that say to tell
him alone, then tell him with a few
people, then tell him with a crowd and
went straight to persecuting him. When I
look back at this event I ask myself what
Jesus would do in a situation like this and
I know he would have acted differently
than I did. I am reminded of God’s
endless mercy and passionate love for us
and am motivated to show that same
mercy and love to my friend.

@Pontifex Sept 2
The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin
Mary is his or her mother is an orphan.
@Pontifex August 30
The Lord always forgives us and walks at our
side. We have to let him do that.
@Pontifex August 28
From the cross, Christ teaches us to love even
those who do not love us.
Prayer for our Priests
Mary, Mother of Jesus, throw your mantle of
purity over our priests. Protect them, guide
them, and keep them in your heart.
Be a Mother to them, especially in times of
discouragement and loneliness.
Love them and keep them belonging
completely to Jesus. Like Jesus, they, too, are
your sons, so keep their hearts pure and
virginal. Keep their minds filled with Jesus,
and put Jesus always on their lips,
so that he is the one they offer to sinner and
to all they meet.
Mary, Mother of Jesus, be their Mother,
loving them and bringing them joy.
Take special care of sick and dying priests,
and the ones most tempted. Remember how
they spent their youth and old age,
their entire lives serving and giving all to
Jesus. Mary, bless them and keep a special
place for them in your heart. Give them a
piece of your heart, so beautiful and pure and
immaculate, so full of love and humility, so
that they, too, can grow in the likeness of
Christ. Dear Mary, make them humble like
you, and holy like Jesus. Amen
Blessed Mother Teresa

VAMOS A SER DISCÍPULOS
¿Necesito ser perfecto antes de que pueda
señalar las faltas de los demás? Muchos
buenos discípulos católicos miran a otros
discípulos ir por el camino de la destrucción
porque ellos sienten que no es su lugar
para hablar con alguien acerca de sus
pecados y fracasos. Ellos se dicen a si
mismos, "quién soy yo para decirles algo? Yo también tengo pecados.
No soy perfecto.
©2014 Life Teen, Inc. All rights reserved.

a acosarlo. Cuando miro hacia atrás a este
evento me pregunto lo que Jesús haría en
una situación como ésta y sé que él habría
actuado de manera diferente a la mía. Estoy
siendo constantemente recordado de la
infinita misericordia de Dios y su
apasionado amor por nosotros y estoy

Joseph I. Castro, Ph.D., M.P.P.
CP&BC Fresno is kicking off our new fiscal year at
our Friday, September 12th breakfast with an intimate
interview with Fresno State president Dr. Joseph Castro. Past
CP&BC president, Pat Ogle, will talk one-on-one with Dr.
Castro about his family upbringing, including where "church"
was or wasn't a part. We will hear how Joseph and Mary
Castro first met and enjoy a little background on their three
children.
Dr. Castro will share details about how his personal Catholic
faith has been, and remains, integral to raising his family and fostering
professional relationships. We will also hear how the impact of a near-miss
serious car collision was a wake-up call for him spiritually.
As the head of a state university, we will learn about the ways Dr. Castro can,
and has, shared the importance of spirituality with students, faculty and staff
and what organizations like CP&BC may exist in the academic/education
sector for one to participate and share their faith with others.
Pat will also delve into how the Castros are involved with others away from
campus in sharing their love for the Lord.
It will be exciting to hear what Dr. Castro believes are his impacts of his first
year as president, especially considering he is the first California native and
first Latino to lead Fresno State - just a few miles from his family home in
Hanford.
Dr. Castro will conclude with what he would like to see Fresno State
accomplish under his leadership during the current academic year and
perhaps take a question or two from the audience, time permitting.
The September 12th breakfast is surely one you, your family and business
associates will not want to miss.
