Children must ride in the BACK SEAT in a properly secured child passenger restraint system (car seat/booster) until they are AT LEAST 6 years or 60 lbs. Safety experts recommend that most children under 4’9” tall ride in a booster seat, regardless of age. Seat belt should fit as follows: lap belt low (touching the thighs), shoulder belt across middle of chest and shoulder (not under arm or behind back), knees bent comfortably without slouching. If your child does not pass this “fit test”, make sure they ride in a booster seat! Child safety seats are provided through Santa Cruz County Health Services Agency SEATS for KIDS Program with funds from County Vehicle Code fine revenues, grants and private donations. Segun los expertos, los niños que miden menos de 4’9” deben usar un asiento elevado (“booster”). Si su niño/a no usa un booster, haga la prueba siguiente para asegurar que el cinturón de seguridad del auto esta correcto : El cinturón de cadera esta debajo del estomago tocando la parte superior de las piernas. El cinturón de los hombros cruza el pecho sin tocar el cuello. No detras de la espalda o debajo del brazo y que las rodillas estén dobladas al borde del asiento con la espalda recta.
