about one of our Church’s greatest saints; his early life and
his eventual conversion. "For Thou hast made us for Thyself
and our hearts are restless till they rest in Thee.” Also available for sale are special magnets that can affix to your car
that celebrate the RISEN LORD. Great for Easter and great
for making a statement in our secular world. These magnets
are also available for purchase in the PLC after Mass and in
the Parish Office during regular office hours on weekdays.

8th for the 2016-2017 school year. We offer an excellent academic education with a challenging curriculum integrated

~MASS OF THE CHRISM~
The Most Reverend Robert F. Vasa, Bishop of the Diocese of
Santa Rosa, along with the Diocesan and Religious priests of
the Diocese invite you to participate in the Mass of the
Chrism at the Cathedral of St. Eugene in Santa Rosa this
Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. The Mass of the
Chrism is celebrated once a year, during which the Bishop
blesses the oil of Catechumens, the oil of the Sick and the oil
of Chrism. This Mass is one of the principal expressions of
the fullness of the ministerial priesthood that the bishop has
received and it also signifies the unity the priests have with
the bishop who share in the same ministerial priesthood.
During this Mass the Diocesan and Religious priests will
renew their commitment of priestly service.

~SCHOOL PASTA FEED~
Join the St. Eugene’s School Council for a “Pasta King” Pasta
Feed on Tues., Mar. 15, from 5:30-7:30 pm in the Msgr. Becker Center. Tickets are available at the door. Cost is $12 for
adults, $8 for kids (14 years and younger) & $10 for seniors.
Dinner includes penne pasta with pesto, penne pasta with
marinara, polenta, green salad, garlic bread and a glass of
wine or beer. Our very own Irish Dancers will be dancing at
6:15 pm. There will be plenty of shenanigans, but no malarkey! Hope to see you there!
~ST. PATRICK’S DAY~
You are invited to the 28th annual St. Patrick’s Day Corned
Beef & Cabbage Dinner this Thursday, March 17th, in the
Msgr. Becker Center. Enjoy an evening of food, fun, a silent
auction, bagpiper, sing-a-long and Irish dancers! We also
have a great new caterer—Steve May Catering. No-host bar
opens at 5:30 pm and dinner is served at 6:30 pm. Tickets

~ICF FUNDRAISER~
St. Eugene’s Branch of the Italian Catholic Federation will
hold its annual fundraiser Prime Rib and Pasta Dinner in the
Msgr. Becker Center on Saturday, April 16th. Hosted cocktails will be at 5:45 p.m. and dinner at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are
$20.00 per person and include dinner and cocktails. Tickets
are available in the Parish Office, Monday—Friday, 9:00

Creo en un solo Dios, Padre todopoderoso, Creador del cielo y
de la tierra, de todo lo visible y lo invisible.
Creo en un solo Señor, Jesucristo, Hijo único de Dios, nacido
del Padre antes de todos los siglos: Dios de Dios, Luz de Luz,
Dios verdadero de Dios verdadero, engendrado, no creado, de
la misma naturaleza del Padre, por quien todo fue hecho; Que
por nosotros lo hombres, y por nuestra salvación bajó del cielo,
Y por obra del Espíritu Santo se encarnó de María la Virgen, y
se hizo hombre; Y por nuestra causa fue crucificado en tiempos
de Poncio Pilato; padeció y fue sepultado, Y resucitó al tercer
día, según las Escrituras, y subió al cielo, y está sentado a la

La Oración Es la Luz del Alma
En el tiempo cuaresmal la Iglesia nos llama a
la profundización de la oración coma la luz del alma.
Meditamos esta lectura de las Homilías del PseudoCrisóstomo.
Nada hay mejor que la oración y coloquio
con Dios, ya que por ella nos ponemos en contacto
inmediato con él; y, del mismo modo que nuestros
ojos corporales son iluminados al recibir la luz, así
también nuestro espíritu, al fijar su atención en Dios,
es iluminado con su luz inefable. Me refiero, claro
está, a aquella oración que no se hace por rutina, sino
de corazón; que no queda circunscrita a unos determinados momentos, sino que se prolonga sin cesar
día y noche.
Conviene, en efecto, que la atención de nuestra mente no se limite a concentrarse en Dios de modo repentino, en el momento en que nos decidimos a
orar, sino que hay que procurar también que cuando
está ocupada en otros menesteres, como el cuidado
de los pobres o las obras útiles de beneficencia u
otros cuidados cualesquiera, no prescinda del deseo y
el recuerdo de Dios, de modo que nuestras obras, como condimentadas con la sal del amor de Dios, se
conviertan en un manjar suavísimo para el Señor de
todas las cosas. Y también nosotros podremos gozar,
en todo momento de nuestra vida, de las ventajas que
de ahí resultan, si dedicamos mucho tiempo al Señor.
La oración es luz del alma, verdadero conocimiento de Dios, mediadora entre Dios y los hombres.
Por ella nuestro espíritu, elevado hasta el cielo, abraza a Dios con abrazos inefables, deseando la leche
divina, como un niño que, llorando, llama a su madre; por ella nuestro espíritu espera el cumplimiento
de sus propios anhelos y recibe unos bienes que superan todo lo natural y visible.
La oración viene a ser una venerable mensajera nuestra ante Dios, alegra nuestro espíritu, aquieta nuestro ánimo. Me refiero, en efecto, a aquella
oración que no consiste en palabras, sino más bien en
el deseo de Dios, en una piedad inefable, que no procede de los hombres, sino de la gracia divina, acerca
de la cual dice el Apóstol: Nosotros no sabemos pedir como conviene, pero el Espíritu mismo aboga por
nosotros con gemidos que no pueden ser expresados
en palabras.
Semejante oración, si nos la concede Dios, es
de gran valor y no ha de ser despreciada; es un manjar celestial que satisface al alma; el que lo ha gustado, se inflama en el deseo eterno de Dios, como en
un fuego ardentísimo que inflama su espíritu.
Para que alcance en ti su perfección, pinta tu
casa interior con la moderación y la humildad, hazla
resplandeciente con la luz de la justicia, adórnala con
buenas obras, como con excelentes láminas de metal,
y decórala con la fe y la grandeza de ánimo, a manera de paredes y mosaicos; por encima de todo coloca
la oración, como el techo que corona y pone fin al
edificio, para disponer así una mansión acabada para
el Señor y poderlo recibir como en una casa regia y
espléndida, poseyéndolo por la gracia como una imagen colocada en el templo del alma.
