The Right Way to Protect a Pipeline Right-of-Way
Every day, you rely on underground pipelines to bring you safe, clean and efficient natural gas to warm your home,
cook your meals, heat your water and more. And we rely on you to help us in keeping those pipelines safe.
Some pipelines are buried below streets and highways; some are found underneath public land; and some may be
located on your property in a pipeline right-of-way. A pipeline right-of-way is a strip of land over and around buried
pipelines that allows them to be permanently located on public and/or private land to provide natural gas service.
Rights-of-way should be kept clear of obstructions to enable Texas Gas Service employees to safely operate, patrol,
inspect, maintain and repair the pipelines.
CALL BEFORE YOU DIG – Be cautious before beginning any construction
REMEMBER:
projects on your property, such as the installation of fences, mailboxes,
sprinkler systems, etc. You should never dig or construct anything without
first calling 811 to have the natural gas pipelines and other utility facilities
marked at no cost to you. It’s important that you do not install any
structures, plant trees or shrubs or store anything that could be an
obstruction on or near rights-of-way.
• Call 811 at least two full working
days before you dig.
If you smell natural gas, leave the area and call 911 or Texas Gas Service

or near a right-of-way.
• Don’t dig until locations of all utility
facilities are marked or cleared.

La manera correcta de proteger
las tuberías en el derecho de vía
Cada día, usted confía en que las líneas subterráneas le proporcionan gas natural seguro, limpio y eficaz para calentar su hogar,
cocinar, calentar el agua, y más. Y nosotros confiamos en que usted nos ayudará a mantener esas líneas resguardadas.
Algunas tuberías están enterradas bajo calles y autopistas, otras bajo terrenos públicos y otras más pueden estar enterradas
adentro un derecho de vía de tuberías colocada en su propiedad. Un derecho de vía de tuberías, o conducto, es una franja de
terreno sobre y alrededor de tuberías subterráneas, que otorga legalmente el derecho de colocación permanente a las empresas
de servicios públicos en tierras públicas o privadas. Los derechos de vía de tuberías o conductos deben mantenerse libre de
cualquier obstrucción para que empleados de Texas Gas Service puedan de manera segura, operar, supervisar, inspeccionar,
mantener, alcanzar, y reparar las tuberías de gas natural.
RECUERDE:
LLAMA ANTES DE EXCAVAR – Tenga cuidado antes de empezar cualquier
proyecto de construcción en su propiedad. Nunca debe excavar o construir algo
sin antes llamar al 811 para que, de manera gratuita, las líneas subterráneas de
gas natural y otros servicios queden debidamente localizados y señalizados. Es
muy importante que no instale ninguna estructura, guarde algo que pueda ser
una obstrucción, o siembre árboles o arbustos sobre o alrededor del derecho de
