Summer break is over and school is back in session. That
means the parking lot is very busy once again, especially
with the construction vehicles and equipment on
site. Please be safe! We appreciate your efforts.
 Observe all parking lot rules—directional signs, no
parking in reserved spaces, fire lanes (red zones) and
driving lanes.
 Keep disabled spaces available for the disabled.
 Drive slowly & carefully and watch for pedestrians—
especially young children Walk children through the
parking lot to keep them safe.
 Avoid blocking the flow of traffic.
 Hold conversations in safe areas rather than in the
parking lot.
 Lock your vehicle and keep valuables out of plain sight.
~FAMILY LIFE CONFERENCE~
For the first time in history, the Catholic Church has held
synods in consecutive years on a single topic – The Family
(in 2014 and 2015). In recognition of the importance of our
families, the Archdiocese of San Francisco is holding our first
ever Family Life Conference on Saturday, September 24,
hosted at Immaculate Heart of Mary parish in Belmont.
There are discount prices for newlyweds (in the last 2
years). Our ‘target audience’ are parents with school-age
children, although all (couples and singles) are very welcome. Free childcare is available on a first-come, first-served

SPIRITUAL ACTIVITY
~CATHOLIC ADULT FAITH FORMATION~
Fr. Jeffrey Keyes will be teaching a Faith Formation class for
adult Catholics who would like to broaden and deepen their
knowledge of the Catholic Faith. Please join us this Thursday, Sept. 8th, for our first meeting. The topic will be: Lectio Divina: An Ancient Way of Prayer. Meetings: Every
Thursday at 7:30 pm, in the Hope Room (upstairs) in the
Parish Life Center (PLC).
~WOMEN OF THE WORD~
Women of the Word invites all women to join their meetings each Tuesday, from 9:15-11:00 am in the Becker Center
to study the Sunday readings, pray and socialize. Childcare

The St. Eugene’s Italian Catholic Federation Branch is having
its Fundraising Dinner on Saturday, October 1st. Enjoy hosted cocktails, antipasti, salad, Italian-cooked polenta with
stew, wine with the meal and ice cream for dessert! All for
only $20! There will also be a raffle. This fundraiser helps
support St. Eugene’s Cathedral and School, scholarships and

CREDO
Creo en un solo Dios, Padre todopoderoso, Creador

Creo en un solo Señor, Jesucristo, Hijo único de
Dios, nacido del Padre antes de todos los siglos: Dios
de Dios, Luz de Luz, Dios verdadero de Dios verdadero, engendrado, no creado, de la misma naturaleza
del Padre, por quien todo fue hecho; Que por nosotros lo hombres, y por nuestra salvación bajó del cielo, Y por obra del Espíritu Santo se encarnó de María

El Matrimonio en el Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica
(Parte X)
No hay dudas que en los últimos meses ha existido una gran confusión sobre el santo Sacramento del Matrimonio. Continuamos con la enseñanza del Catecismo
de la Iglesia Católica sobre el Matrimonio y todo lo relacionado a este.
La apertura a la fecundidad
1652 "Por su naturaleza misma, la institución
misma del matrimonio y el amor conyugal están ordenados a la procreación y a la educación de la prole y con
ellas son coronados como su culminación" (GS 48,1):
«Los hijos son el don más excelente del matrimonio y contribuyen mucho al bien de sus mismos padres. El
mismo Dios, que dijo: "No es bueno que el hombre esté
solo (Gn 2,18), y que hizo desde el principio al hombre,
varón y mujer" (Mt 19,4), queriendo comunicarle cierta
participación especial en su propia obra creadora, bendijo
al varón y a la mujer diciendo: "Creced y multiplicaos" (Gn 1,28). De ahí que el cultivo verdadero del amor
conyugal y todo el sistema de vida familiar que de él procede, sin dejar posponer los otros fines del matrimonio,
tienden a que los esposos estén dispuestos con fortaleza
de ánimo a cooperar con el amor del Creador y Salvador,
que por medio de ellos aumenta y enriquece su propia
familia cada día más» (GS 50,1).
1653 La fecundidad del amor conyugal se extiende a los frutos de la vida moral, espiritual y sobrenatural
que los padres transmiten a sus hijos por medio de la educación. Los padres son los principales y primeros educadores de sus hijos (cf. GE 3). En este sentido, la tarea fundamental del matrimonio y de la familia es estar al servicio de la vida (cf FC 28).
1654 Sin embargo, los esposos a los que Dios no
ha concedido tener hijos pueden llevar una vida conyugal
plena de sentido, humana y cristianamente. Su matrimonio puede irradiar una fecundidad de caridad, de acogida
y de sacrificio.
VI. La Iglesia doméstica
1655 Cristo quiso nacer y crecer en el seno de la
Sagrada Familia de José y de María. La Iglesia no es otra
cosa que la "familia de Dios". Desde sus orígenes, el núcleo de la Iglesia estaba a menudo constituido por los que,
"con toda su casa", habían llegado a ser creyentes (cf Hch
18,8). Cuando se convertían deseaban también que se salvase "toda su casa" (cf Hch 16,31; 11,14). Estas familias
convertidas eran islotes de vida cristiana en un mundo no
creyente.
