Principal in Training
December 18, 2014
Jeni Rouse, assistant principal is a participant in
the Learn to Lead Principal Residency program,
a Lead in Denver Initiative. The purpose of the
program is to ensure that every DPS school community gains value from effective school leadership that is both practiced and experienced in
the work of the principal. As part of the program,
Jeni participates in a variety of learning experiences to develop her into a highly qualified principal candidate. Two of these experiences are
quickly approaching. The first is the Shadow Day
where she will be shadowed by a principal of
another school. Ms. La Dawn Baity, principal of
Trevista, will be her shadow all day on Wednesday December 17th to provide on the spot coaching and feedback. Simultaneously, Mr. Munoz will be out of the school to shadow and provide feedback to the principal resident at Trevista.
The second leadership experience quickly approaching is the Principal in Action experience. This experience provides Ms. Rouse with the opportunity to
take on the full time role of the principal for two weeks. The Principal in Action experience will occur the first two weeks in January. It is designed to be
as authentic as possible to create an opportunity for her to lead the school
and experience leadership “at scale.” During the Acting Principalship, Mr.
Munoz will be out of the building and Jeni will be assuming all principal duties. During this time Gilberto will be engaging in professional learning experiences and leadership responsibilities off-site. Mr. Munoz will join us for the
Open House on Jan 7th, but will be out of the building from January 5th– January 16th and will return to Swansea to resume his normal roleon Tuesday,
January 20th.
Don’t forget winter break starts Friday, December 19th-January 5th. Classes
resume on Tuesday, January 6th. Have a happy, & restful holiday season!

We are planning to start Student Council after Winter Break. Students between 3rd and 5th grade can fill out an application and complete a reference form (available after break). For the rest of the year, Student Council
will focus on school-wide behavior expectations, improving school environment and leadership in the school setting. Keep your eyes peeled for more

Residencia de Director(a
18 de diciembre, 2014
La Sra. Jeni Rouse, subdirector en residencia es
una participante en el programa de Aprender a
Dirigir, Residencia de Director(a, una iniciativa
del distrito. El propósito de esta iniciativa es para
garantizar que cada comunidad escolar beneficie de un liderazgo eficaz por medio de la práctica y experiencia que se logra durante una residencia. Como parte del programa, Jeni participara en una variedad de experiencias de aprendizaje para desarrollar sus habilidades como líder
y aumentar sus calificaciones para poder ser una
directora. Dos de estas experiencias se acercan
rápidamente. La primera es el miércoles, 17 de
diciembre en cual la Sra. LaDawn Baity, directora de Primaria Trevista siguiera
a Jeni todo el día para evaluar y dar consejos a su liderazgo. Al mismo tiempo, el Sr. Muñoz estará afuera haciendo igual con el subdirector en residencia en la Primaria Trevista.
La segunda experiencia de liderazgo es ‘director(a en acción’. Esta experiencia proporciona a Jeni con la oportunidad de realizar la función de directora por dos semanas completas. Su experiencia de ‘director(a en acción’
llevara a cabo durante las primeras dos semanas de enero. Está experiencia
está diseñada para ser lo más auténtica posible entonces el Sr. Muñoz estará
fuera del edificio durante este tiempo para que Jeni pueda asumir todas y
cada una de las funciones de directora. Al mismo tiempo, el Sr. Munoz estará
participando en sus propias experiencias de aprendizaje profesional y tendrá
otras responsabilidades de liderazgo fuera de Swansea. El Sr. Muñoz nos
acompañara durante la noche de Casa Abierta el 7 de enero, pero estará
afuera del edifico hasta el 20 de enero cuando regresara para asumir su lugar de nuevo.
No se olvide vacaciones de invierno comienzan el viernes, 19 de diciembre
hasta el lunes, 5 de enero. Clases comienzan el martes, 6 enero. ¡Les deseamos felices días festivos!

School of Choice Round 1
Round One of SchoolChoice enrollment for the 2015-16 school year will open Monday,
December 15, 2014. If you have a student in ECE, Kindergarten, entering middle or high
school, you will soon receive an enrollment application in the mail to select a school for
your student.
Current ECE and Kindergarten students who wish to remain at Swansea for the 2015-2016
school year will have to complete the SchoolChoice enrollment application before January 31st. More information will be made available during Open House at Swansea Elementary on January 7th, 4:30-6:30 PM.

Swansea Basketball Team
Have you noticed some Swansea students wearing white jerseys at school? That's
because basketball season has begun and the students on the basketball team
are allowed to wear their jerseys on game day. Following is the schedule for this
season. We would love to have your support for games at Swansea and at other
schools to cheer on our super athletes.
They have already played a few games and have been doing a great job under
the direction of their coaching team, Ms. Patty Prevo, 4th grade teacher, Ms.
Christina Rodriguez, 4th grade teacher, and Mr. Micah Miller, 5th grade teacher.

Primera ronda de inscripción de EscojoMiEscuela para el año escolar 2015-16,

Equipo de Basquetbol de Swansea
Ha notado algunos estudiantes de Swansea vestidos en camisetas de deporte
blancas en la escuela? Esto es así porque basquetbol ha comenzado y los estudiantes que son parte del equipo pueden lucir sus camisetas del equipo durante
el día de un partido. Siguiente es el calendario de esta temporada. Nos encantaría su apoyo durante los juegos en Swansea y en otras escuelas para animar a
nuestros súper atletas.
Ya se han jugado unos cuantos juegos y han estado haciendo un gran trabajo
bajo el entrenamiento del equipo de entrenadores, Patty Prevo, maestra de 4to
