At this time our parish is seeking your commitments towards the
Annual Pastoral Appeal. This appeal comes by every year and often we can
be unaware of where our generosity goes towards. The Annual Pastoral
Appeal provides for many incredible ministries in our diocese: caring for the
poor, the immigrants, providing education and counsel, clothing the poor and
providing for unexpected pregnancies.
But most tangibly in my life, it provided for my education. I love being your
priest. I love being here at St. Lawrence and without the years of your support
through the Annual Pastoral Appeal, I would not have been able to receive
the education I did. By no means could I have entered seminary and been
prepared to be your priest without the generosity of those who have given to
the Annual Pastoral Appeal.
Thank you.
Pope Francis has called forth for this year of Mercy to be a year of concrete
actions. That mercy goes beyond a sentiment. I invite you to give to the
Annual Pastoral Appeal generously. Your contributions in the past have been
a very real and tangible expression of Mercy in my life and who knows
whose lives you will provide for this year.

We accept donations of gently used furniture and house wares (no broken items, no rips or stains, no
clothing) to deliver to families and single adults who have housing but need furniture to make that
"house" a true "HOME." That is where YOU come in!! Home Makers will accept your donations at its
warehouse on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 2900B E. 7th Ave., located in the Gulf Eagle
Supply warehouse. We are at the far east end, down by the railroad tracks. We can also arrange advance
pick ups of the larger furniture by contacting Connie Hayden-McPeak at [email protected] or
(813) 495-3355 who will schedule a time on Thursdays.
Home Makers of Hope is completely operated by volunteers. We exist only because of your generosity!
Please remember us before you dispose of any gently used items. Our biggest areas of need are twin and
queen beds (mattresses, box springs, frames), tables and chairs, dressers and chests, but all household
items are accepted. We set up over 80 beds in December, so our warehouse is completely empty of beds!!

As we kick-off the 2016 Annual Pastoral Appeal: Open
the Door to Mercy,
Mercy today I ask you to join me, Bishop
Lynch and all of the parishes and missions within our diocese and make a
gift/pledge to the Annual Pastoral Appeal for the benefit of our parish
and, more importantly, the many in need throughout the five counties of our diocesan family. Every
gift is valuable. Sometimes it is hard to envision how your one gift could make a difference in an
organization the size of our diocese, but it does. Each Catholic family, each parish, united, can fulfill
the mission of our Christ, to love and serve one another. In trying times, our gifts from God may be
more difficult to identify; God blesses each of us every day, there is no limit to his mercy. No one can

historia que mi madre me contó hace unos años.

Cuando era pequeño mis padres tuvieron diferentes
empleos con el fin de proveer para nuestra familia. Desgraciadamente mi padre
tuvo una incapacidad temporaria en un proyecto en casa y por lo tanto tuvo un
tiempo sin poder trabajar. Una tarde, mi madre fue al supermercado local con el
fin de encontrar la cena para su familia. Ella me dijo que solamente tenía poco más
de siete dólares en el bolso para alimentar a sus cinco hijos. En su desesperación
ella pidió la ayuda de Dios. En el Mercado al pasar por el pasillo de la carne, se
encontró un pedazo de carne que había sido marcado accidentalmente bajo de sus
siete dólares proporcionando suficiente para su familia. Esa noche ella recibio el
cuidado del Señor.
En este momento nuestra parroquia está solicitando sus compromisos hacia
la Apelación Pastoral Anual. Esta apelación viene todos los años y muchas veces
podemos no ser conscientes de que nuestra generosidad va muy lejos en nuestra
area. La Apelación Pastoral Anual proporciona para muchos ministerios en
nuestra diócesis: el cuidado de los pobres, los inmigrantes, educación y consejo,
ropa a los pobres y ayuda a mujeres que se encuentran con embarazos inesperados.

Pero lo más palpable en mi vida que esta apelación proporcionó para mi fue
mi educación. Me encanta ser su sacerdote. Me encanta estar aquí en San Lorenzo
y sin los años de su apoyo a través de la Apelación Pastoral Anual, yo no habría
sido capaz de recibir la educación que recibi. De ninguna manera podría haber
entrado en el seminario y estado dispuesto a ser su sacerdote sin la generosidad de
los que han dado en años pasados a la Apelación Pastoral Anual.
Gracias.
El Papa Francisco ha proclamado para este año de la Misericordia a ser un año de
acciones concretas. Esa Misericordia va más allá de un sentimiento. Te invito a que
des a la Apelación Pastoral Anual generosamente. Sus contribuciones en el pasado
han sido una expresión muy real y palpable de la Misericordia en mi vida y quién
sabe cuya vida puede proporcionar para este año.

Al empezar la Apelación Pastoral Anual 2016 Abre la Puerta a la Misericordia, les
pido hoy se unan a mí, al Obispo Lynch y a todas nuestras parroquias y misiones
dentro de nuestra diócesis, y hagan una donación / compromiso a la Apelación
Pastoral anual, para el beneficio de nuestra parroquia y más importante aún, a los
más necesitados en todos los cinco condados de nuestra familia diocesana. Toda
donación es valiosa. Algunas veces, es difícil ver cómo una sola donación puede
hacer la diferencia en una organización del tamaño de nuestra Diócesis, pero sí la hace. Cada familia Católica,
cada parroquia, unidos, podemos llevar a cabo la misión de nuestro Cristo, de amar y servir unos a otros. En
tiempos difíciles, nuestros dones de Dios pueden ser más difíciles de identificar, pero Dios nos bendice a cada
uno de nosotros todos los días, no hay límite para su misericordia. Nadie puede hacer todo, pero todos

Cuaresma
La Cuaresma del año 2016 tiene lugar del 10 de Febrero al 20 de Marzo. La
Cuaresma es un periodo del tiempo litúrgico que comienza el Miércoles de Ceniza y
finaliza el Domingo de Ramos.
La Cuaresma tiene cinco domingos más el Domingo de Ramos, en cuyas lecturas
los temas de la conversión, el pecado, la penitencia y el perdón, son dominantes. No es
un tiempo triste, sino más bien meditativo y recogido. Es, por excelencia, el tiempo de
conversión y penitencia del año litúrgico.

La cuaresma del latín “quadragésima” es el “cuadragésimo día antes de la
pascua”. Son 40 días de preparación para la gran fiesta de la Pascua. Es tiempo para
arrepentirnos de nuestros pecados, y de cambiar algo de nosotros para ser mejores y
poder vivir más cerca de Cristo.

Exposición y Adoración del Santisimo Sacramento
Exposición y Adoración del Santísimo Sacramento está
abierto todas las semanas a partir del Jueves, a las 9:15 a.m.
en la Capilla del Niño Cristo, La capilla se encuentra en el
extremo norte del Salón Higgins. Adoración continúa hasta
la Bendición a las 2:00 p.m. el Sábado por la tarde.
Todos están invitados a venir a pasar un rato tranquilo con
Jesús en la Adoración de la Eucarística. Para obtener más

Todos son invitados a Celebrar a Nuestra Señora de Suyapa
Patrona de Honduras
En comunidad el 7 de Febrero 2016 en la Misa de las 5:00 p.m..
La imagen de Nuestra Señora de Suyapa ,es una pequeña escultura hecha de madera de
cedro que mide seis centímetros y medio de alto. Su talla es antigua y parece que fue
trabajada por algún devoto de la Virgen.
Es de tez morena, su rostro es agraciado, oval de mejillas redondas; es fina y recta la
nariz, su boca pequeña; en sus ojos misericordiosos se vislumbra que perpetuamente esta
mirando a los desterrados hijos de Eva, en su tez morena esta representada nuestra raza
indígena.
Partida en dos, tocada la augusta cabecita con una corona, su lacia cabellera le cae a
ambos lados de la frente hasta los hombros. Las manos diminutas, sin entrelazarse,
suavemente se juntan sobre el pecho .El ropaje pintado en la propia efigie es una túnica de
color rosado que apenas asoma por el pecho, pues esta recubierta de un manto oscuro
adornado con doce estrellas doradas. Circundan toda la imagen con los rayos de plata
sobredorada, engastados con piedras, que se cierran en forma de numero ocho, y en el
extremo de los rayos superiores , doce estrellas nimban la cabeza de la imagen.
