ALTAR SERVER TRAINING
J.T. Batstone will offer training classes on August 13th and
September 17th at 10:00 a.m. Call the office to register.
On August 4, 2015, Pope Francis spoke to a gathering of 9,000
Altar Servers:
Catholics are more fortunate than the Old Testament prophets
were because in the Eucharist they experience Jesus' closeness
and know that God is not far off on a lofty throne, Pope Francis
told thousands of altar servers from across Europe.
"In the Eucharist and in the other sacraments," the pope said,
"you experience the intimate closeness of Jesus, the sweetness
and power of his presence."
Serving at the altar, the pope told the young people, is a
privileged way to draw closer to Jesus, which in turn "enables
you to open yourselves to others, to journey together, to set
demanding goals and to find the strength to achieve them."
"The closer you are to the altar," he told them, "the more you
will remember to speak with Jesus in daily prayer; the more you
will be nourished by the word and the body of the Lord, the
better able you will be to go out to others, bringing them the
gift that you have received, giving in turn with enthusiasm the
joy you have received.”
YOUTH LEADER
We would like to explore an enhancement for our Christian
Education programs to broaden their scope and expedite the
quality. We are looking for a part time person to work with our
director specifically for young people from 6th grade on. It
entails an evening (likely Monday night) and a willingness to
accompany the kids to CYO convention and other weekend
activities. If you want to talk about it we are anxious to meet
with you to talk about your background, and find out what kind
of compensation you would need.

WHAT’S YOUR CATHOLIC IQ?
The earliest defined dogma about Mary was (a) the Assumption;
(b) the Immaculate Conception; (c) that she was the “Mother of
God”; (d) that she appeared at Lourdes
ARE YOU CALLED TO BE A CATECHIST?
We would like to share a quote with you from Blessed Teresa
of Calcutta. “To show great love for God and our neighbor
we need not do great things. It is how much we put in the
doing, that makes our offering something beautiful for
God.” Keeping that in mind, we need some help. We need
Catechists for the 4th & 5th grade classes and in youth
ministry on Mondays. We need people who love our faith
and want to pass that on to the future of our church. Please
consider giving the gift of your knowledge, time and faith to our
youth. Please contact Mary Chapman for more information.
SICK LIST
Add your name or the name of a friend to our prayer list by simply
call the office. Then name can be removed by calling 360-426-6134
x200, or will be dropped after a month. If an aged or ailing homebound person would like to receive Holy Communion at home, Olene
Steele can make the arrangements. Leave a message for her at the
parish office and she will make contact.

NINETEENTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME
VEA SEÑOR ALREDEDOR DE SU ALTAR
AUGUST 6-7, 2016
PRIMERA LECTURA
porque creyó que Dios habría de ser fiel a la promesa;
SALMO RESPONSORIAL Salmo 32, 1 y 12. 18-19. 20 y 22
Dichoso el pueblo a quien Dios escogió.
Aclamen, justos, al Señor,
que merece la alabanza de los buenos;
él es nuestro auxilio y escudo;

MINISTERS OF THE LITURGY
NINETEENTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME
AUGUST 6-7, 2016
ARCHDIOCESE HOTLINES
The Archdiocese of Seattle has established a confidential
telephone hotline and website for parish staff and parishioners
to anonymously raise concerns about suspected unethical
behavior by church personnel. You can find more information
about this hotline on a poster and in brochures located in the
back of the church or by going to
seattlearchdiocese.ethicspoint.com.
The phone number is 1-(844)-815-8236. The program is run
under contract by an independent third party with a long record
of providing these services both in the secular world and for
other dioceses.
BACK TO SCHOOL JAMBOREE
Mount Olive Lutheran Church is asking for our help. The Sixth
Annual Back to School Jamboree will be held August 15
through the 18th, from 5PM-8:15PM, at Olympic Middle
School. The purpose of this event is to build stronger families
in our community. The Jamboree is a FREE local community
program open to children and their families from kindergarten
through Grade 5.
The goal is to excite the children about beginning or returning to
school and their education. To get them started, fun life-skill
classes in sewing, planting/gardening, needlework, animal care,
woodworking and many others will be offered. Kids will be
connected with extra-curricular ideas-music, 4H, Boys and Girls
Clubs, soccer, karate, etc.
The hotline for reporting issues regarding Safe Environment
or sexual abuse is 1-800-446-7762 or email
[email protected]. All information received by the
Pastoral Outreach Coordinator will be held in strictest
confidence.
Another important role of the Jamboree is to meet some practical needs of families caused by the return to school. This includes providing nightly family meals, haircuts, school supplies
and school clothes as part of the program.
IS YOUR MARRIAGE ALL IT WAS MEANT TO BE?
Are you struggling in your marriage? Do you feel
a sense of disillusionment or sadness? Do you
wish you could rekindle the spark you once had,
but just don’t know how? You are not alone.
Retrouvaille (pronounced retro-vī) can help. For
confidential information about, or to register for
our upcoming program beginning Sept 23-25,
2016 call 360-671-6479 or visit our website at
www.HelpOurMarriage.com.
Through this program we strive to bless each child and family,
to make them feel loved and cared for.
Mount Olive expressed a need for volunteers, financial donations and new or used youth clothing for K-5th graders. Please
contact Phyllis at 463-6285 if you can offer your help.
