WHAT’S YOUR CATHOLIC IQ?
The sacrament that begins the Christian life is ___ (a) First
Communion; (b) Baptism; (c) Confirmation; (d) Anointing of
the Sick
CCD CLASSES HAVE BEGUN!
Registration envelopes are available in the social Hall or in
Mary’s office. We are asking for a donation of $30.00 per child
or a $80.00 donation for a family of three and over. This money
will be used to offset the cost of books and materials. If this
poses a hardship for any family, please let us know. Please
remember your responsibility as a Catholic parent and help your
child know God through the teachings of Jesus Christ. Our
classes are here to help you accomplish this baptismal promise.
Classes are Sundays, 10:00 – 11:15 AM and Mondays, 6:30 –
8:00 PM.
P.S. If your child is planning on receiving the sacraments,
Reconciliation, Eucharist or Confirmation, they must attend
Christian Education for at least one year before reception of
these sacraments. Most importantly, he/she must be a regular
participant in Mass.
SICK LIST

YOUTH LEADER
We would like to explore an enhancement for our Christian
Education programs to broaden their scope and expedite the
quality. We are looking for a part time person to work with our
director specifically for young people from 6th grade on. It
entails an evening (likely Monday night) and a willingness to
accompany the kids to CYO convention and other weekend
activities. If you want to talk about it we are anxious to meet
with you to talk about your background, and find out what kind
of compensation you would need.
REST IN PEACE
Please pray for the repose of the souls of
Father Richard Parle, Patty Hamstreet,
Katherine Minogue, JoAnn Strozyk, Matilde

TWENTY SIXTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME
SEPTEMBER 24-25, 2016
VEA SEÑOR ALREDEDOR DE SU ALTAR
PRIMERA LECTURA
piedad, fe, amor, paciencia y mansedumbre.
junto a él.

Let’s make that extra effort to be hospitable, and
invite a visitor or someone you are not familiar
with to the coffee hour after the 8:30 am Mass.
If you would be able to sponsor coffee hour or clean up afterwards, Judy Brown or Connie Helt are there to show you how.
Starting in the next few weeks, a small sample of the activities
conducted by St. Vincent de Paul here in our community will be
shared in this space. The brief articles will show how, with your
support and the Society’s efforts through Christ, we strive to
meet the unfulfilled needs in our community. We ask you to
take a moment each week to read and reflect on the content of
these shared stories. We also ask for your continued prayers
and financial support for the work of St. Vincent de Paul and
those in need here in our community.

EXCERPTS FROM USCCB:
Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship - Part I The U.S. Bishops’ Reflection on Catholic Teaching and
Political Life
7. In this statement, we bishops do not intend to tell Catholics
for whom or against whom to vote. Our purpose is to help
Catholics form their consciences in accordance with God's truth.
We recognize that the responsibility to make choices in political
life rests with each individual in light of a properly formed
conscience, and that participation goes well beyond casting a
vote in a particular election.
8. During election years, there may be many handouts and
voter guides that are produced and distributed. We encourage
Catholics to seek those resources authorized by their own
bishops, their state Catholic conferences, and the United States
Conference of Catholic Bishops. This statement is intended to
reflect and complement, not substitute for, the ongoing teaching
of bishops in our own dioceses and states. When using this
document, it is important to remember that Church teaching is
coherent and rests on a comprehensive vision of the dignity of
the human person, a dignity that St. John Paul II described as
"manifested in all its radiance when the person's origin and
destiny are considered: created by God in his image and likeness as well as redeemed by the most precious blood of Christ,
the person is called to be a 'child in the Son' and a living temple
of the Spirit, destined for the eternal life of blessed communion
with God'" (Christifideles Laici, no. 37). Thus, the particular
judgments of the document may fall at various points along the
political spectrum, but the foundational principles that guide
these teachings should not be ignored in any case nor used
selectively in order to serve partisan interests. In light of these
reflections and those of local bishops, we encourage Catholics
throughout the United States to be active in the political
process, particularly in these challenging times.
