some comforting words. Flowers and plants are
expensive and they die too soon. What about
being a part of a perpetual Clerical Endowment
Fund Card for the deceased. Give $5 and your
name will be included in the memorial to the
family of the deceased. That person will be
remembered perpetually in the Masses of our
Bishop and in the prayers of our Seminarians.
That same $5 will be used to help educate our
Seminarians - future priests who will serve us in

Thoughts on Faithful Citizenship
Week 5: Fourth Principle of Catholic Social Teaching:
Option for the Poor and Vulnerable The Gospel call Christians to put the needs of the poor and
vulnerable first. A common moral test of a society is how it
treats those on the margins. Wherever there is structural injustice,
Christians are called to oppose it. Those with the greatest need
require the greatest response.
Above and beyond the common good, our values call us to
show special concern for the poor. In the arena of public policy,
the Church’s teachings cause us to examine the affects of legislation on the most
vulnerable. Our responsibility is to work for laws that would assist the poor to move
out of poverty such as equal educational opportunities, just tax policies, adequate
shelter, a strong economic safety net, and access to decent, affordable health care.

San Jose Youth Ministry had an awesome group that attended
the 54th annual Diocesan Catholic Youth Conference in Waco.
We had a total of 41 students and 11 adult chaperones. A big

The San Jose Education and Scholarship Committee would

del abuso sexual infantil (llamado anteriormente

12pm en el Salón Parroquial. Este taller es parte
de las normas diocesanas sobre Ética e Integridad
en el Ministerio que se hicieron vigentes en
enero del 2002 y fueron revisadas en agosto del
2008. Todos los miembros del clero, personal
pagado y voluntarios que trabajan con jóvenes
y adultos vulnerables de cualquier parroquia o
área de la diócesis, están requeridos a llenar una
solicitud, una sola vez, para el ministerio antes
de comenzar su trabajo y / o labor de servicio y
asistir a un taller de EIM dentro de 60 días de la

Project Miriam discernment for young
women: Project Miriam will be held Feb. 18
from 10am to 2pm at St. Mary Cathedral in
Austin. Single, Catholic women between the
ages of 16 and 45 are invited to attend. The
morning includes testimonials and prayer
with religious sisters serving in the diocese,
as well as Mass and lunch with Bishop Joe

Miscarriage Support
A free spiritual support program through
the Vitae Clinic for couples struggling to
conceive or with pregnancy loss. Attend a
monthly women’s support group on the first
Wednesday of the month (rosary 6:45pm,
discussion 7pm), at the Vitae Clinic in
Austin, located at 1600 W. 38th St., suite

Kingdom” at Holy Cross Catholic Church
