As we begin a new school year, we find teachers establishing school standards and
rules. In the most successful classrooms, teachers have established specific routines
for the children to follow. This means giving the children a specific place to find and
keep materials, a set schedule for classroom instruction, and academic and behavioral

At home, it is also important to provide routines. Many families build a daily “quiet
time” when the television is turned off. This quiet time provides students the opportunity for completing schoolwork . During this quiet time a suitable place, somewhat
free of other distractions, should be available. The routine of a daily quiet time provides an opportunity to develop self-discipline, stimulate imagination, and enhance reading skills. Charlton St. School’s instructional focus is on reading comprehension. We encourage parents and guardians to assist students in reaching this goal. The key to comprehension is reading and re-reading a passage until students read fluently and can understand what they have read.

Student Morning and Dismissal
Pickup Procedures at CSS
Students who walk to school or are
dropped off may arrive after 7:45. No
staff on duty prior to this time. School
begins promptly at 8:25.
When a student is tardy an adult must accompany the child to the office and sign in.
School ends at 2:45. Please be aware that
early dismissals are very disruptive to the
students and classroom learning.
Please follow the guidelines below for student dismissal pickup procedure. Our main
concern is the safety of the students. As
the year progresses the procedure time
should improve. There is no parking allowed on the cemetery side of Evergreen
St. It is very dangerous for students to
cross the street unaccompanied by an
adult. Parents may park in the upper parking lot near the school or on Charlton St.
and walk to escort their child to the car.
The line of cars for pickups should remain
next to the curb. The driveway should only
be utilized for exiting the school grounds.

La asistencia es muy importante para el éxito académico de

Estimados Padres/Encargados,
Al comenzar un año nuevo escolar, vemos a los maestros estableciendo las normas y reglas
de la escuela. En las clases de mayor éxito, los maestros han establecido rutinas especificas
para los niños a seguir. Es decir dar a los niños un lugar especifico para encontrar y mantener materiales, un horario establecido para la instrucción en la clase, y expectativas académicas y conductuales. Esta rutinas, combinadas con las estándares consistentes del maestro, forman una clase funcionando sin problemas donde los niños tienen la seguridad de la
comprensión de su ambiente y se refuerzan positivamente por sus contribuciones.
En casa, también es muy importante de proporcionar rutinas. Muchas familias tienen un
“tiempo de silencio” cuando se apaga la televisión. Este tiempo de silencio permite a los estudiantes la oportunidad de completar la tarea. Durante este tiempo de silencio un lugar

Procedimientos para Dejar y Recoger los Estudiantes en CSS
Los estudiantes que caminan o vienen en carro pueden llegar después de las 7:45. No hay
personal de guardia antes de esa hora. Las
clases comienzan puntualmente a las 8:25.
Cuando un estudiante llega tarde, un adulto
tiene que acompañar a su hijo a la oficina y
firmar para su hijo.
Las clases terminan a las 2:45. Tengan en
cuenta que las despedidas tempranas de su
hijo son muy disruptivas al aprendizaje del
estudiante y la clase.
Favor de seguir las directrices para recoger
a su hijo a la hora de salida. Nuestra mayor
preocupación es la seguridad de los estudiantes. Con el tiempo el procedimiento de recoger su hijo debe de mejorar. No se permite
estacionarse en el lado del cementerio de la
calle Evergreen. Es muy peligroso para los
estudiantes cruzar la calle sin un adulto. Padres pueden parquearse en el estacionamiento mas arriba o en la calle Charlton y caminar
para recoger a su hijo. La línea de carros
debe quedarse cerca a la acera. El camino de
entrada se debe usar solo para salir de los
terrenos de la escuela.
