Escofet works together with the designer from the creative phase to the technical execution of any kind of product, ranging from pieces of simple making, such as steps, curbs or ornaments to more unique elements of high added value on which the best production technology has been applied. ESCOFET 1886'S TECHNICAL OFFICE. May 2004. The urban transformation of the area of the Forum of the Cultures in 2004 in Barcelona generated new spaces and new landscapes for the city. Large scale public spaces were formed along the coast to the north east of the city: the Esplanade of the Forum, the Auditorium Park, the bathing zone, Sant Adrià port and the Parc de la Pau. All of these spaces gave rise to a variety of situations in which the relationship between the sea, the new equipment and installations would define the character of each zone. Elements such as Hebi, Murllum, Odesa and the Xurret System are born with the capacity to shape the space where they take hold. They are innovative elements that condense the energy of the new urban landscape spaces and which co-exist alongside anonymous elements with which the projects are materialized (stairs, tiers, kerbs..). These special elements are alongside standard ones such as the Kanya columns, the Pedra Negra waste paper container, the Lama fountain, the Bollards, the Sillarga: they are long series elements. Their universality is manifest, and it is clear they are designs of today. Asociados Carlos Ferrater, Lucía Ferrater. Palau Sant Jordi. Barcelona. 1991. The large pre-fabricated panels of the façades are the result of an autonomous project realized off the site and based on a deliberately stripped external appearance, uniformly manufactured in chronological order, cleanly and boldly displayed and set up, working dry and using little manpower in the construction. These façades call for specialization, qualified work, safety, commitment to quality, even right down to attention to details requiring rigourous technical skills and precise molding technology. The arrises, bevels, joints and false joints have to be neat and uniform in their composition and texture, the set up finely adjusted, and the embedding perfectly incorporated into the panel mass and the receiving structure. This methodology allows very varied volumes to be worked with and a great degree of liberty, ensuring that the project is absolutely faithful to the intended geometry. Escofet played a role right from the initiation of the project and the criteria for its construction through to its actual execution on the site. This great project is so exceptional that it has brought into being a unique process in which innovation and experimentation have led to new structural and construction solutions being developed. Forms and volumes which would be beyond the possibilities of traditional construction are made a reality by applying the most advanced moulding technology. This is how the Temple project is being carried out and in which the structural and geometric complexity require highly precise construction. The concept for this square is based on the optimization of its use by pedestrians and for shopping, while at the same time making sure it is compatible with the underground car park. The existence of a great number of trees together with the car park meant that it is necessary to order them into strips which take in the two entrances to the car park. The railings act as a way of marking off these entrances and as a continuous bank. All the prefabricated elements of the square, the railings, the treebeds and holes and the kerbs, are made out of molded concrete to form a harmonious whole and homogeneous finish. The project for this square is exemplary in the way it uses made-to-measure pre-fabricated elements. The project starts out from and then builds on these elements and uses them to organize the space and fulfill all the necessary functions in the square. Escofet was present right from the design of the pieces through to the rationalization of their breaking up into smaller pieces, from the creation of the project up to the work on the site. 260 6 8 40 100 27 35 100 R9 32 244 15 15 35 8 104 25º 40 106 106 121 R9 40 60 23 8 68 100 10 100 R9 248 15 15 52 44 32 25 35 70 55 72 87 8 40 R9 Proyectos especiales Special projects 131 Place Felix Baret. The intention is to construct clean, safe, comfortable spaces with first class acoustics and great lighting. La Gare Magenta plays with and plays off against each other the visible in situ concrete and the most sophisticated finishes with pre-fabricated elements in the spaces nearer to the user. The final definition of the ambience is largely dependent on the lighting effects, as well as the optical fibre points. The spaces in the wall between the access arches of the station are mitigated by a prefabricated concrete element 162 centimetres high and which acts as a base and as an element to finish the decoration. This white, polished element, with its stone appearance, accommodates the benches, waste paper baskets, lighting and advertising and information panels. The benches are wooden with stainless steel supports. The lights are made of optical fibre embedded into the concrete.
