Welcome Aboard! The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District— AC Transit—is the third largest public bus system in the state and has been serving the East Bay since 1960. Thirteen cities and adjacent unincorporated areas in Alameda and Contra Costa counties comprise the district’s service area. Disabled—Passengers must show proof of disability with a Medicare Card plus photo ID, DMV Parking Placard ID plus photo ID, disabled license plate registration plus photo ID, or Regional Transit Connection Discount Photo ID Card. Transfers Transfers are good for travel in any direction on any number of buses for two hours. Transfers are 25 cents and are issued upon request only at the time of boarding. Transbay passengers transferring to or from local buses may request a transfer at no charge. Each bus stop has a sign that shows the number or letter designations of the bus lines serving that stop.
