Children’s Reading Club & Summer Library Programs
How will this help my child? Studies show that children who read over the
summer are better prepared for the following school year. Children who read for
fun often outperform their classmates who don’t.
Who may join? All children from babies through grade 8 are encouraged to
participate.
What should my child read? All reading counts: books, magazines, cereal
boxes, etc., and parents may read to young children. Librarians are happy to make
book suggestions.
Are there reading incentives? All participants who complete their reading
goal will receive a certificate, a paperback book and a sports backpack.
How do we join? Register to read online at www.northlakelibrary.org or pick
up a paper log at our kickoff party. Separate registration for library classes begins
online or at the library starting Monday, May 30, at 9:00 a.m. Many programs don’t
require registration.
When does the program end? The last day to submit reading logs is Saturday,
July 30.
Adult and Teen Reading Program
Teens and adults who turn in their punch card between June 4th
and July 30th will be entered into a drawing for weekly prizes.
Pick up a reading punch card at the kickoff party or at the Adult
Reference desk and spread the word.
