From the Pastor
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
I guess by now you are getting accustomed to seeing the construction site and finding your way into
the Church. I am sorry if you have been inconvenienced in any way. But, once the construction
is finished the new chapel will be well worth all
the hazels. The chapel will be used for private
prayer as well as occasional Masses and public novenas. Part of the extra room that the new entrance
will provide will be used for our little religious
goods store so that it will be more accessible to
people as they leave the church. We have some
really nice items but hardly anyone goes over to
where the store is presently located. Having a special chapel dedicated to St.Toribio and his fellow
martyrs will add greatly to the importance of our
diocesan sanctuary and afford people a place to
present their petitions to the patron saint of immigrants. With the publicity that the Sanctuary has
been receiving lately on public radio, Univision,
Tulsa World, and other media sources people are
beginning to realize that our Sanctuary exist. We
expect more and more visitors to come to see the
shrine and that is why it is important that we have
something nice to show them. A beautiful chapel
will help. We have to also provide a spiritual environment as well and offer them some opportunities
to pray and celebrate Toribio’s life of love. We are
working on all of that. Whenever I visit other
sanctuaries around the world I try to take note of
what is being offered to the pilgrims who visit
these holy places. Your ideas are welcome too.
In the parish this week we start out on Monday
with the celebration of the Nativity of the Blessed
Virgin Mary. I hope that you will be able to join
us for Mass either at 7:00 a.m. or at 8:30 a.m. This
coming weekend (September 13th) we will have a
celebration of independence for Mexico and other
Hispanic countries that celebrate on Sept. 15th.
September 7, 2014
It is an opportunity for all of us to thank God for
our freedoms and to seek to protect those freedoms. If you are interested in coming to the celebration just show up around 7:00 p.m. in the back
parking lot of the school behind the gym. There
will be food and entertainment and a nice opportunity to celebrate the precious gift of our freedom.
In addition to these happenings there is something
else that begins this week in the parish on Tuesday
and Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. The religious
education classes commence and we hope to have
every child of school age to participate. We don’t
want only those children preparing for the reception of a Sacrament. We want all school aged children to attend. We have classes for all grade levels
even for those who have already received First
Communion and Confirmation. We believe that it
is important that each child continue his or her religious formation all the way through high school.
As a matter of fact we believe that everyone should
continue their religious formation all throughout
their lives. We never finish learning about our
faith. There is so much learn.
I hope that each of you has a great week and let’s
pray for each other and for our whole parish.
Sincerely yours,
Father Timothy Davison
We are working on a new Parish Pictorial Directory. Please

2014 Seminarian
Education Challenge Grant
Catholic Extension offered to add $50,000 to the
existing St. John Vianney Seminarian Education
Trust if we, the people of the Diocese of Tulsa,
could raise $150,000 by Dec. 31st to support our
young men in formation for the priesthood. Here’s
the good news. Catholic Extension has lowered
the challenge amount to $100,000 while still offering the same $50,000. Additionally, an anonymous
donor in the Diocese has offered yet another challenge. This donor will match, dollar for dollar, all
donations made between Oct 1st and Dec. 31st
2014 up to a total of $50,000.
At present, the seminarian education fund
is stretched. There are currently 15 young men in
formation who represent the future of the Diocese
of Tulsa. If the goal of this challenge grant is
reached, it will help strengthen and secure the future of priestly vocations in the diocese.
Please contact Lori Han at the chancery
918-307-4935, [email protected] for
information on how to donate.

Stefanick from Real Life Catholic, and there will

XVII, Pedro, quien llegó a Cartagena (Colombia)
