Patricio Tapia. Revista Wikén, 9 de julio de 2010 90 points, DE MARTINO 2008 Legado Reserva Chardonnay (Limarí Valley) Wine Enthusiast, July 2010 90 points, DE MARTINO 2008 Legado Reserve Chardonnay, Limarí Valley, Chile De Martino winemaker Marcelo Retamal was one of the early believers in the Limarí Valley as a source of well‐balances, highly mineral‐driven wines –Charsonnay in particular‐ and this example proves his instinct correct. With complexity well above the average , the Legado Reserve has well‐defined citrus, pear and stone fruit character, and mouth‐salivating, wet chal/stone flavours. Lively acidity is softened by complex and creamy lees, and the finish lingers nicely. Really well‐crafted, overall. Drink or hold 2 to 4 years. (JS) Wine Access, Jun/July 2010 2007 De Martino "Legado" Reserva Maipo Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Pure, deep blackberry flavors at their best. Complex fruitiness without being fruit forward. Nice balancing acidity. Very good wine for price. Chosen wine of the week by Roger Morris Roger Morris, Been There Tasted That, June 2010 (http://beentheretastedthat.blogspot.com/2010/06/friday‐lineup_13.html) 2008 De Martino "Legado" Limari Valley Chardonnay This is both a very enjoyable and a very interesting wine, starting with its floral nose of fresh clover and continuing with its lemon cream middle body and a vanilla finish. It has a touch of residual sugar, but not too much. The interesting part is that it comes from a small valley in Northern Chile which is much closer to the Equator than the white‐grape vineyards around Santiago. Yet the ocean proximity maintains the grapes' freshness and acidity. Roger Morris, Been There Tasted That, June 2010 (http://beentheretastedthat.blogspot.com/2010/06/friday‐lineup_13.html) 92 puntos, DE MARTINO El León Single Vineyard Carignan 2006 (Valle del Maule) Vinos & Más, Mayo‐Junio 2010 92 puntos, DE MARTINO Single Vineyard Cancha Alegre Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 (Valle del Maule) Tiene una madurez rica, jugosa. Composed and showing no overwrought oak or tropic fruit aromas that so often plague Chilean Chardonnay. A smooth operator, with toasty apples and mineral aromas leading to a ripe but cleansing palate and finish. This is like winemaker Marcelo Retamal’s favorite child; with proper guidance it is growing better every year. Best overall Chardonnay to date from Limarí. Imported by Opici Import Company. Best Buy. Revista La Cav ‐Vinos Íconos‐ Noviembre 2009 16.5 points, DE MARTINO 2008 Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Casablanca Valley Classy, savoury nose built on pebbly minerality and a sprinkling of herbs, plus fresh gooseberry. Palate is lean and green with real definition and focus. A distinctly grown‐
up example of its type. Drink now. POA; BWC Decanter, September 2009 16 points (3 stars), DE MARTINO 2006 Colluvia Syrah (Choapa Valley) Big, meaty and oaky with ripe black fruit flavours and savoury notes of coffee, black olive, dark chocolate and pepper. Now – 2011. 7.99 pounds, M&S. Decanter, September 2009 91 points, DE MARTINO 2006 Single Vineyard Old Bush Vines Las Cruces (Cachapoal Valley) A broad, ripe wine, with crushed plum, red cherry and raspberry fruit layered with alluring spice, aged tobacco and licorice snap notes. The long finish has nice briar and shaved vanilla hints. This should flesh out with modest cellaring. Malbec and Carmenère. Drink now through 2011. 600 cases made. Wine Spectator, September 2009 90 points, DE MARTINO 2005 Familia (Maipo Valley) A dense, loamy style, delivering coffee, mint, sage, tobacco and crushed currant fruit notes, all stitched together by cedary yet fine grained tannins. This solid, dense finish lets a hint of pepper flash. Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère and Malbec. Drink now through 2010. 1,200 cases made. Wine Spectator, September 2009 90 points, DE MARTINO 2006 El León Single Vineyard Carignan (Maule Valley) From 70‐year‐old bush vines, this is excelent Maule Carignan. Ir has a brightness of fruit that puts the spotlight on cherry ans raspberry, and while the color is a brilliant ruby it isn’t dense, deep or heavy. There’s a lightness of being to it, but also structure and acidity that will allow it to age. Wine Enthusiast, September 2009 91 points, DE MARTINO 2006 Single Vineyard Old Bush Vines Las Cruces (Cachapoal Valley) A broad, ripe wine, with crushed plum, red cherry and raspberry fruit layered with alluring spice, aged tobacco and licorice snap notes. Wine Spectator Insider, July the 8th 2009 4 STARS, DE MARTINO, Legado Syrah, Choapa Valley 2007 Not for the faint hearted. Peter Richards Top´s Red of the Vintage 15.8 DE MARTINO, Legado Syrah, Choapa Valley 2006 Big, crunchy fruits, slightly Smoky and leathery. Rich, plumy fruit expression and a touch of oak. Wine Spectator, October 2008 90, DE MARTINO Sauvignon Blanc Casablanca “Single Vineyard” 2006 ‐2007‐ 91, DE MARTINO Cabernet Sauvignon Maipo Valley “Legado” 2004 Firmly built, the blackberry and cassis flavors are held against a wall of tense tannins, bright acidity and oak. Wine & Spirits, December 2007 DE MARTINO was selected as a “New World Icon of Tomorrow” by Decanter Magazine (UK), September 2007 90, DE MARTINO Chardonnay Limarí Valley “Single Vineyard” 2005 The 2005 Chardonnay Single Vineyard is outstanding. Medium straw‐colored, it has an expressive nose of toasty oak, baked apple, and spiced pear with a hint of butterscotch in the background. On the palate, the wine is crisp and dry in the style of a premier cru Chablis. It has a long, pure finish and should continue to provide pleasure for another 4‐5 years. Wine Spectator, November 2006 91 points, DE MARTINO Organic Cabernet Sauvignon Maipo Valley 2004 Made with organic grapes from Chile's Maipo Valley, “this intense, tannic cabernet has sunny black plum flavors and dark cherry aromas, diminishing the impact of oak and covering the tannins with layers of sweet flavor. Exceptional.” Wine & Spirits, February 2006 ‐2005‐ 93, Best wine from the Maipo Valley, DE MARTINO Carmenere Maipo Valley “Single Vineyard” 2003 Pure, spicy black fruits, yet quite restrained. Dense, structured and intense on the palate with good complexity and length. Wine & Spirits International, December 2005, Chile Tasting 90, DE MARTINO Chardonnay Limarí Valley “Legado” 2004 Wine & Spirits International, December 2005, Chile Tasting 90, DE MARTINO Cabernet Sauvignon Maipo “Gran Familia” 2001 If you like muscular cabernets, get this. It’s presented in an international style, with blackberry flavors and vanilla scents that smell ripe and sweet. The generous texture is built on strong tannins that need four to five years to mellow into complexity and roundness. Wine & Spirits, February 2005 90, DE MARTINO Syrah Colchagua Valley “Single Vineyard” 2003 The remarkable thing about this syrah is how it manages to combine all its elements in balance: ripe black fruit with fresh strawberry aromas, vanilla scents and oaky flavors in the back, soft yet firm black pepper tannins playing with lovely acidity. A gentle giant ready for a juicy cut of beef. Wine & Spirits, February 2005 90, DE MARTINO Cabernet Sauvignon Maipo “Gran Familia” 2001 Plush and very ripe, with streamlined black currant and black berry fruit that runs along fine grained tannins. There’s plenty of tar, loam and cedar here too, but the fruit shines through the finish. Drink now through 2006. Wine Spectator, January 2005
