14TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
JULY 3RD 2016
T he Pastor’s Corner
My dear Parishioners,
On Monday we will celebrate Independence Day. Flags will
fly, picnics, outdoor concerts, and fireworks enjoyed, AND
patriotic speeches, especially by November office seekers,
will roll out across the land. Patriotism will be the banner of
the day. But beware!

Saturday, 9:00 am: Communion Service
Patriotism in the USA today means differ things to different
people. From the Catholic point of view, patriotism is a
virtue that reveres one’s native land and its history, its traditions and languages, its art, its genius, and most of all, its
people. Would that that notion would prevail throughout our
land today. Unfortunately, some citizens, among them politicians or would-be’s, believe themselves patriotic when they
champion mere nationalism, a form of extreme patriotism
that sees one’s country as superior to others, which can easily lead to xenophobia and isolationism.
Happy 4th of July!!
“Independence is one of the
valuable gifts that one can enjoy.
Hope that God’s blessings are always
with us so that the coming generations
can also enjoy the fruits of independence.
Enjoy and have a great day.”
These are the wishes of
Saint Paul of the Cross
Catholic Church
The question for our nation today is, as Fr. Lawrence Mick
puts it: “Can we learn to celebrate our own nation in the context of a global community? Can we pray for and give
thanks for our country without denigrating others? Can we
embrace true patriotism that includes awareness of God’s
love for all peoples and all nations?” (Celebration, July 3,
2016) We can’t answer for our nation as a whole but we can
answer for ourselves. In a spirit of true patriotism, I am
compelled to say “Yes.” If patriotism is a virtue, I want to
stand on the side of virtue. How about you?
Happy 4th of July!

14º DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO
¡Bienvenidos a San Pablo de la Cruz!
3 DE JULIO, 2016
El mensaje del pastor
Santa Misa en Español: Domingos, 7 a.m. y 1 p.m.
Horas de Oficina: Lunes - Jueves, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

"(Celebracion
verdadero patriotismo, me siento obligado a decir
Y tu ...Que opinas?
Preparación de Quinceañeras
La preparacion sera el día Sabado 17
de Septiembre desde las 8:00 am
hasta las 12 del medio día, en el
