Death is not the end. All Saints and
All Souls day celebra ons have been
recent reminders on death and
resurrec on. This Sunday’s first reading reflects that strong belief in life
a er death, “It is my choice to die at the hands of men
with the hope God gives of being raised up be him….”.
Jesus makes it quite clear in the Gospel that our God
“is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him
all are alive.”
How many people today no longer believe in life a er
death? We might be surprised. This is our month as
Catholics to reaffirm our belief in the resurrec on. Last
Saturday we honored those members of our parish
who died in the past year; I hope that our “memorial”
nourished the hope of those le behind that their
loved ones are s ll alive and wai ng for them.
What comes next? We are heirs of faith in the
resurrec on and at the same me we are living our
faith in the here and now …and, how we do that is
really important.

person with the ques on: “To what
voca on is God calling you?” We can
have a posi ve impact on others by
simply invi ng them to think about and
pray about considering a voca on to
priesthood or religious life. Our willingness to speak

On Saturday, Oct. 22, our seminarian, José López, was
officially accepted as a candidate for Holy Orders in a
ceremony held at St. Francis de Sales Seminary in
Milwaukee. In the presence of the Archbishop of
Milwaukee, the Forma on Staff of the Seminary, his
parents and several other family members, José
expressed his resolve to complete his prepara on for
ministry within the Church. José will be ordained to the
Diaconate in May 21, 2017 at 3pm at St. Francis Xavier
Cathedral in Green Bay and to the priesthood in 2018.

“May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our
Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting
encouragement and good hope through his grace,
encourage your hearts and strengthen them in every
good deed and word.” 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
There are two important lessons here. First, we are
called to be generous with our encouragement and
hope. As God shows us mercy, we must be merciful to
others. Second, joy is contagious! The joy we receive
from doing good works not only strengthens us, it
encourages others as well.

Armed Forces wherever they serve and to veterans who
are in VA medical centers. Please prayerfully consider a
generous contribu on to this Triennial Na onal Collecon approved by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Checks can be made out to St. Philip Parish.

¿Quiere saber “el resto del Cuento”?
La muerte no es el fin. Las celebraciones de
Todos los Santos y Día de los Muertos nos
recuerdan de la muerte y la resurrección.
La primera lectura de este domingo refleja
nuestra fe en la vida después de la muerte,
“Vale la pena morir a manos de los hombres, cuando se ene la
firme esperanza de que Dios nos resucitará.” Jesús aclara que
nuestro Dios “no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivos, pues para él
todos viven.”
¿Cuántas personas hoy en día no creen en la vida después de la
muerte? Creo que nos sorprendería. Para nosotros los Católicos
este es el mes para reafirmar nuestra fe en la resurrección.
En esta semana hemos honrado a los fieles difuntos de nuestras
familias y de la parroquia. Espero que también nuestra esperanza en y para ellos haya sido fortalecida.
¿Y lo demás? Somos herederos de la fe en la resurrección y,
a la vez, vivimos nuestra fe ahora y aquí… y, cómo la vivimos es
sumamente importante para nosotros.

¿Alguna vez has animado algún joven con la
prequnta: “¿A qué vocación te esta llamando Dios?” Podemos influir a otros por simplemente invitarles a pensar o rezar en la

El día sábado, 22 de octubre, nuestro seminarista, José
López, fue aceptado oficialmente como candidato a las
Ordenes Sagradas en una ceremonia en el Seminario San
Francisco de Sales en Milwaukee. En la presencia del
Arzobispo de Milwaukee, la Facultad de Formación del
seminario, sus padres y varios miembros de su familia,
José expresó su determinación de completar su preparación para ministerio dentro de la Iglesia. José será ordenado al Diaconado en 21 de mayo del 2017 a las 3 pm en
la Catedral de San Francisco Xavier en Green Bay y al
sacerdocio en 2018.

Hay dos lecciones importantes aquí. En primer lugar,
estamos llamados a ser generoso con nuestro aliento y
esperanza. Como Dios nos muestra misericordia, debemos ser misericordiosos con los demás. En segundo
lugar, ¡la alegría es contagiosa! La alegría que recibimos
de hacer buenas obras no sólo nos fortalece, sino también anima a otros.
