de la misa de 8:30 am y culminando con la misa a

Baptism: Fir st Saturday of the month at 1:00 PM. Parents
must come to the Rectory with the with child’s original birth
certificate at least one or two months in advance. Instruction is
held on the Monday before the Baptism at 7:00 PM. For more
information please contact the Rectory.

Abraham prays earnestly for the salvation
of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. He persistently upholds his request for the sake of the just
ones who might live there. There was only one
problem: no just person could be found neither in
Sodom nor in Gomorrah except for Lot - Abraham’s nephew. As a matter of fact, chapter 19 of
the Book of Genesis narrates the destruction of
these two cities, which ruins probably lay on the

ultimately we ought to pray that the will of God
may be done in our lives. Do I truly believe that
what God has in store for me every day is the
best for my salvation? Faith is to believe that
whatever God allows in our lives (either good or
bad) is going to benefit our entrance into eternal
life through the Holy Spirit. We see this standpoint both in the words of the Psalm “though I
walk amid of distress, you (Lord) preserve me”
and in the Gospel with the Lord`s Prayer, where
we hope for the “coming of the Kingdom” and
for “God’s will be done.” This is conversion, this
is Faith. The Lord makes clear that in order to

UNBOUND
Fr. Gallagher will be coming to our parish
on the weekend of July 30th and 31st about the
work being done by Unbound (previously
known as CFCA) which was founded by lay
Catholics. Unbound is an organization that
has served more than 600,000 children, youth
and elderly in 20 developing countries since
1981 empowering them to make more choices in their lives, live with dignity and reach
their potential.
Unbound’s unique sponsorship program is
highly personalized. It matches a child, youth
or aging person at a project overseas with a
sponsor in the United States who cares about
and encourages that person. With a monthly
contribution, a sponsor helps to provide much
needed nourishing food, medical and dental
care, the chance for a child to go to school,
livelihood programs for families and much
more. All of these efforts are directed at affirming the dignity of every person in their
local community.

Abraham ruega enérgicamente por la salvación de las ciudades de Sodoma y Gomorra.

hallen allí diez justos,” dice Abraham, “que no
merecen morir” a causa de los demás pecadores.
Había solamente un pequeño problema: no había
ningún justo ni en Sodoma ni en Gomorra; solamente hacia excepción el sobrino de Abraham –
cuyo nombre era Lot. De hecho, el capítulo 19 del
Libro del Génesis cuenta como el Ángel de Dios
destruyó estas dos ciudades, cuyas ruinas probablemente están en el lecho del Mar Muerto. En la
liturgia de este fine semana la Iglesia nos enseña
el verdadero sentido de la oración. Aunque tenemos varias formas de oración (alabanza, petición,
contrición y agradecimiento) al final tenemos que
rezar primariamente para que se haga la voluntad
de Dios en nuestras vidas. ¿De verdad creo yo que
Dios me da cada día lo mejor por mi salvación?
¿O nos quejamos? Fe es creer precisamente que
Dios permite en mi vida que pase lo que es más
conveniente para mi conversión – para yo aprender amar a Él sobre todas las cosas. Vemos todo
esto en las palabras del Salmo: “Cuando camino
entre peligros, me conservas la vida;” y también
en el Evangelio, cuando Jesús ensena a rezar a sus
discípulos “el Padre Nuestro” diciéndole de pedir
lo que es más importante: el Espíritu Santo. Sin Él
no se puede vivir libre de pecado y hacer la voluntad de Dios, que es nuestra felicidad.
