From the Pastor
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We begin the month of November
remembering that in this month we are encouraged to
pray often for the faithful departed. As nature itself
seems to die and offer us a visible symbol of the
transitory nature of all things it is hard to miss the
lesson God is giving to us. One day we too must
each pass away. Death, judgement, heaven and hell,
these are the four last things. Let us be prepared at
all times as Our Lord has urged us to be.
This Sunday begins a special week of prayer
for vocations. On Friday, November 11th our fifth
graders from our school will join other fifth graders
from around the Diocese for a day of vocation
awareness at St.Pius X parish. And today at
St.Benedict’s the religious education students in the
5th and 6th grades from the various parishes
throughout the Diocese will get together for a day of
discernment. Let us pray for our children that they
may truly open their hearts to whatever the good God
has in store for them and may sincerely seek always
to do His most holy will.
Every seven years our Catholic schools are
evaluated and certified and this year on November,
8th,9th, and 10th the certifying group will be at our
school to go over records and all the activities of our
school to evaluate how we are doing as a Catholic
school. Please pray that all goes well. Mr.Martin
and the dedicated teachers have worked hard to make
sure that everything is in good order. We have a
very fine school and we are so happy that this special
apostolate has been able to continue despite the
difficulty of finding enough funding year after year.
Thank you to those of you who are helping us each
month with a donation to our endowment fund. We
have now about $200,000.00 in that fund and the
interest accrued is used each year as necessary.
Your contribution is much appreciated. There is an
envelope in our package of envelopes that arrives at
our homes and is available for this donation. If you
are confused about which envelope is earmarked for
which account please let me know. Also if you do
not receive the envelopes in the mail and would like
to receive them let Alejandra in our parish office
know and she will make sure that they are mailed to
November 6 , 2016
your address. Those who use the envelopes are in a
better position to give more regularly to the parish
and the envelopes also help our office to keep track
of your yearly donations so that your tax letter can
be prepared.
This coming Saturday, November 12th
Mother Miriam will offer a special retreat for
women. The retreat will start at 8:30 a.m. with
Mass and will conclude by around 3:00 p.m. All
women are encouraged to participate if possible.
Please let us know in the parish office if you are
planning to attend as there will be both a breakfast
as well as a lunch served that day.
Next Sunday is Stewardship Sunday. Let us
give some serious consideration to how we can
become true stewards of the Lord’s gifts. A tithe is
considered 10% of our income. Let us be truly
generous and even sacrificial in our giving back to
the Lord. He asks that of us and it is for a good
reason. He wants us to learn to put Him first and
foremost in our lives. When we give the Church our
tithe we are concretely putting this commandment
into action.
I wish all you a good and safe week and the
Lord’s blessings on all your endeavors and plans.
Sincerely yours,
Father Timothy Davison
Perspective
We must often draw the comparison of time and
eternity. This is the remedy of all our troubles. How
small will the present moment appear when we enter
that great ocean!!

National Vocation Awareness Week
NOVEMBER 6-11, 2016
As we ready ourselves to
celebrate and honor all known and
unknown holy men and women seeking
their intercession this coming week.
We recall all the holy men and women
whose commitment to the faith in the
Lord Jesus is one we should aspire to. It
is fitting, as we prepare to celebrate
National Vocation Awareness Week, we
remember those gone before us and
learn from their example. Consider
participating in our special celebration
next week.
The
Resurrection
Of The Dead
The Apostles’ Creed we proclaim that
we “believe in the communion of the saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of
the body, and life everlasting.” Today’s
readings invite us to explore these beliefs.
The second passage from Second
Maccabees makes it clear that belief in the
resurrection of the dead was not born in
Christianity, but in a time preceding Jesus’
coming. The martyred brothers proclaim
their conviction that God will raise them to
new life. No threat of death can bring them
to break one of their religious laws. Death of
their bodies is not death at all, compared to
the spiritual death that would result from
transgressing the law.
The silly riddle about marriage put to
Jesus in the Gospel gives him an opportunity
to speak of the “ coming age,” when no one
will be given in marriage, and no one will be
liable to death. Jesus too stresses how
ancient is this teaching, attributing this belif
to Moses, who knew that God is the God of
the living.

a pedido.
Sinceramente suyo,
Padre Timothy Davison
