workshop for the Sick and Homebound
on Saturday, June 28th at St. Louis Parish, 5930 Swope Parkway Kansas City,

1 Corinthians 10:16-17
Real Communion
“The Body of Christ” refers to the church
as well as to the Eucharist. When we
share in the Body and Blood of Christ, we
have communion with God and with one
another.
Jesus is present to us in many ways. We
hear his voice in the gospel. We experience his love in our community. We receive him sacramentally in the Eucharist.
We are called the Body of Christ because
Christ dwells with us.
St. Paul wrote the Corinthians, “Because
the loaf of bread is one, we, though
many, are one body, for we all partake of
the one loaf.”
When we receive communion we experience our communion with one another.
Many though we are, we are one in
Christ. Just as many grains of wheat
make one loaf, just as one loaf is shared
by many people, just as many people
become one by sharing that one loaf, so
do we many become one in Christ. Jesus
unites our community when we share our
communion together.
Paul’s words were especially significant to
the Corinthians. He began this letter addressing the divisions in their church and
calling the faithful there to unity. At this
point in his letter, we understand why.
Their unity in the church is critical to the
integrity of their worship.
If our Eucharist is to be sincere, our communion must be real. We eat the Body of
Christ. We drink the Blood of Christ. We
are the Body of Christ.

We will soon mail out application forms
for families who wish to receive financial
assistance from the Endowment Trust
Fund for Catholic Education. If you have
children enrolled in a Catholic School, you
may apply. Letters will go out next week.
Please let us know if you do not receive
one.
One of our members recently added St.
Anthony’s to the title of his car. By adding
“TOD St. Anthony Parish,” any car owner
can make a charitable gift to the church
at the time of death. Are you looking for
another way to make a gift to the parish?

1 Corintios 10:16-17
Comunión real
"El Cuerpo de Cristo" se refiere a la
iglesia, así como a la Eucaristía.
Cuando compartimos en el Cuerpo y
la Sangre de Cristo, tenemos comunión con Dios y unos con otros.
Jesús está presente para nosotros en
muchos aspectos. Escuchamos su voz
en el evangelio. Experimentamos su
amor en nuestra comunidad. Nosotros lo recibimos sacramentalmente
en la Eucaristía. Estamos llamados al
Cuerpo de Cristo, porque Cristo mora
con nosotros.
San Pablo escribió a los corintios:
"Porque el pan es uno, nosotros,
siendo muchos, somos un solo cuerpo, porque comemos todos del mismo pan."
Cuando recibimos la comunión que
experimentamos la comunión unos
con otros. Aunque somos muchos,
somos uno en Cristo. Así como muchos granos de trigo hacen un solo
pan, al igual que un pan es compartido por muchas personas, al igual
muchas personas se convierten en
uno, compartiendo ese mismo pan,
Igual muchos se convierten en uno
solo en Cristo. Jesús une a nuestra
comunidad cuando compartimos
nuestra comunión juntos.
Las palabras de Pablo fueron especialmente de mucho significado para
los Corintios. Comenzó esta carta
frente a las divisiones en su iglesia y
llamando a los fieles allí a la unidad.
En este punto de su carta, entendemos por qué. Su unidad en la iglesia
es esencial para la integridad de su
adoración.

Un recordatorio si alguna familia

quinceañera aqui en la parroquia de
San Antonio la familia tiene que estar
registrada por un año y ser miembros
activos cada semana para poder
celebrar la quiceañera aqui.

Si nuestra Eucaristía es sincera,
nuestra comunión debe ser real. Nosotros comemos el Cuerpo de Cristo.
