PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN
Catechists...YM...Children’s Liturgy...etc...
Volunteering for Steubenville?
The best way to protect our children and our church is for adults to learn red flag
behaviors and to report concerns to supervisors. This creates a culture of protection. In
our diocese, we use the VIRTUS Training Program and offer training in English and
Spanish. You must attend a VIRTUS/Safe Environment training ASAP if
you volunteer in our parish with children/youth. The next session at the Pastoral
Center is Tuesday, June 16, at 1:30 p.m. To register please call
561-775-9530. All are welcome to attend.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, to Dr. Raymond and Barbara Adams and growing up in Cherry Hill, NJ. I was raised in the
Northern Baptist Church (General Association of Regular Baptist Churches). Later, my parents and I migrated to the
Presbyterian (PCA) tradition. I attended Bishop Eustace Catholic High School (Pallotines), Messiah College, in Grantham, PA and earned an MBA from FAU. It was after college, that a job opportunity opened up for me in Florida. I began looking seriously for a church to attend. One afternoon I was passing by a Catholic church and attended that Saturday evening I felt at home and at peace there. It was a couple of months later that I learned about the RCIA program. I
enrolled and was officially welcomed into the church at the Easter Vigil 18 years ago.
Over the years I became more active in the church. There were a number of people, including a handful of priests, who
would ask me if I had ever thought about becoming a priest. I was busy working so these moments were pretty much
dismissed, yet the seed had been planted, the notion would remain with me. I was making good money, getting promotions, and yet I knew there was still something missing in my life. I pursued further education thinking that it might fill
the void. I completed a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) at Florida Atlantic University. Along with a career
change came the opportunity to attend Mass every day. It was in that context, in that environment of daily reception of
the Eucharist, in which I began to take seriously the notion that God was calling me to the priesthood. I’ve been in seminary formation now for 6 years (2 at St John Vianney in Miami, and 4 at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in
Boynton Beach)
There have been many priests and others who have mentored me along the way. Eventually I was guided to the Vocations Office for the Diocese of Palm Beach. There are many, many good and holy priests out there. Priests we can all
look up to, and who we can look to as an example of who we ought to be, who God is calling us to be, no matter what
our particular state in life may be. It has been a great joy on my journey to recognize how many good priests we have. I
credit them for being an example to me of the incredible joy that the priesthood can bring. I look forward to serving here
at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola for the next year.
In His service,
Deacon Scott
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN HELPFUL HINTS
Your pledges are rolling in! If you have not made your pledge yet, please do! Due to the many different
methods of payments, there are a few things that you can do that will help us keep things running
smoothly:
•
•
•
When using your own bank’s “Bill Pay” option, please indicate in memo section “PLEDGE” and/or change the Payee name to
“St. Ignatius Family Life Center”.
Please do not combine your Campaign Pledge with your weekly offertory. Separate checks are necessary; please use your
check “memo” to designate your intent.
When you receive your reminder letter, we will have included a special “PLEDGE PAYMENT” envelope which you are
welcome to drop in the weekend collection basket, or mail back to our office. Please do not use your weekly offertory
envelopes for your pledge payments. This helps assure the posting process is accurate. Please do not use the larger initial
pledge envelopes. There are white and gold “PLEDGE PAYMENT” envelopes available in the pews and at the back of the
church for your convenience. Please call Barbara 561-622-2565 if you have any questions regarding campaign.

The Most Reverend Gerald M. Bishop is asking all parishes and schools in the diocese
to join him a united prayer effort in thanksgiving for the past several calm hurricane
seasons and for our protection from devastating storms in the 2015 season.
PRAYER FOR PROTECTION AGAINST STORMS
God our Father, Creator of the Universe and Lord over all creation, we humbly stand before you as your
children in thanksgiving for your loving care and protection. We ask that you keep us safe from all hurricanes
which may threaten us in the coming seasons. Protect us from all fear and anxiety of storms and give us an
ardent trust and hope in Your love and mercy. You alone have the power to command the sea, the wind and the
rain. You alone bring peace, calm, and safety. Father, we thank you in advance, for you are our only Refuge.

LA ALEGRIA DEL EVANGELIO
