From the Pastor: While in Spain I
travelled on and near roads that lead to
Santiago de Compostela. I did not make a
pilgrimage to this holy site, but I have
walked upon some of the historical routes.
These routes are marked with a scallop
shell on signs, on the path itself, and on
buildings. These markings guide the pilgrims who walk
great distances to the church in Compostela where St.
James is said to be buried. As we travelled we saw many
pilgrims walking on the way, or emerging from hostels or
churches as they continued their journey. Many people
find spiritual enrichment and even reconciliation as they
meditate, pray, and converse with others on the journey.
One day Brother Terry and I made a short
“pilgrimage” to the city of Alba de Tormes. There you will
find the ruins of the old Norbertine Abbey of St. Leonard.
Today, some of the ruins have been incorporated into a
Sacred Heart high school. The founding priest was an archeologist and collector of antiquities. He liked the appearance of the ruins and initiated the school. We visited the
school in hopes that they would form a relationship with
Notre Dame Academy or St. Norbert College. Perhaps
there will be opportunities for students and faculty to travel
each other’s schools.
The abbey ruins are on the edge of the Alba de
Tormes where St. Teresa of Avila died. Her remains are
located in the Carmelite Monastery of the Annunciation.
We saw her tomb and two reliquaries which hold her heart
and right arm. The tomb is situated high and at the back of
the sanctuary. It can be seen from the church and from
behind the sanctuary in a small chapel where one can approach the tomb. It is a holy place where the saint is venerated. The chance to see Teresa’s tomb and pray there
were great blessings.
In Toro, the city where the Norbertine sisters live,
we attended a wonderful art exhibit at the Collegiate
Church of St. Mary Major, a Romanesque church completed in the 13th century. Another part of the exhibit was at the
Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Featured works of art
demonstrated images around the theme of water. The exposition contained both ancient and modern works, mostly
religious. There were paintings, sculptures, and carved
altar pieces all featuring water in one way or another –
baptisms, floods, Jesus walking on water, the apostles
fishing, etc. Beautiful! Peace, Fr. Andy
About our Patron, St. Willebrord – This weekend we pay
homage to our patron saint and seek his intercession. November 7, 2016, marks 1,277 years since his death. He
remains a very popular saint in parts of Europe, especially
the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Go to his Wikipedia page for some more photos and details of his life.
Seek his intercession in order that more people may

is coming soon. We will also be
celebrating the 25th anniversary!!!

church will be open all night so that
everyone has the opportunity to come to
pray or sing to Our Virgin Morena.
We also invite all groups, bands
and choirs who wish to sing during this celebration. Please call us so we can
include them in our Schedule of Events.

preparations for this celebration to call to the office
to sign up for one of the volunteer groups.
Whatever you decide to participate in during this
special holiday we are sure you will have a good
time. All are welcome.

G.I.F.T. is an opportunity for people of different faiths to
come together to develop a deeper
understanding and respect that allows them to live and
cooperate with each other in spite of their differences.
Everyone remains true to their own beliefs while respecting the right of the other to practice their faith freely. Interfaith dialogue is not just words or talk. It includes human
interaction & relationships. It can take place
between individuals and communities & on many levels,
in both formal and informal settings.

The Sanctuary Society
will be having their annual
Bake Sale and Raffle on

The group is asking for donations of bakery in
the near future, but for now they are also
looking for new items for the raffle. Ideas may
include gift cards, children’s gifts, kitchen
gadgets, and electronics to name a few.
All donations should be dropped off at the
Parish office BEFORE November 5th.
Tickets will go on sale November 12&13, 19-20,
and 26&27. Again thank you for your
generosity in supporting our parish.

Giving Tree
Each year we help provide
Christmas gifts and food to
about 50 families (about 100+
children).
The Social Concerns
Committee will be erecting a
Christmas tree on November 19. On this
tree will be ornaments that specify a child’s age
and clothing size, or just age for toy gifts. Our
goal is to provide 2 clothing and one toy gift for
each child.
You are then invited to help with one or
several children by taking ornaments from the
tree and purchasing the item. We ask that
your gifts be brought to church UNWRAPPED,
and with the ornament securely attached by
December 14. If you don’t have time to
shop, a donation towards the purchase of gifts
is also gratefully accepted and we will do the
shopping for you.

TODOS SON BIENVENIDOS A ASISTIR A ESTA
MISA TAN ESPECIAL!
Mensaje de Nuestro Párroco: Durante mi viaje en
España viajé en y cerca de carreteras que conducen a
SanƟago de Compostela. No hice una peregrinación a
este lugar sagrado, pero he caminado sobre algunas de las
rutas históricas. Estas rutas están marcadas con conchas de
vieira en señales, en el camino, y en los edificios. Estas marcas
guían a los peregrinos que caminan grandes distancias a la
iglesia en Compostela, donde se dice que está enterrado
SanƟago. Mientras viajábamos vimos muchos peregrinos que
recorren ese camino, o que salían de los albergues o iglesias
para conƟnuar su viaje. Muchas personas encuentran
enriquecimiento espiritual e incluso la reconciliación mientras
que meditan, oraran y conversan con otros durante en el viaje.
Un día el hermano Terry y yo hicimos una corta
"peregrinación" en la ciudad de Alba de Tormes. Allí se
encuentran las ruinas de la anƟgua abadía premonstratense de
San Leonardo. Hoy en día, algunas de las ruinas se han
incorporado en una escuela secundaria del Sagrado Corazón. El
cura fundador fue un arqueólogo y coleccionista de
anƟgüedades. A él le gustaba el aspecto de las ruinas e inició la
escuela. Nos fuimos a la escuela con la esperanza de que iban a
formar una relación con Notre Dame o con el colegio de St.
Norberto. Tal vez habrá oportunidades para los estudiantes y
profesores de las escuelas de viajar entre las diferentes
escuelas.
Las ruinas de la abadía están en el borde de Alba de
Tormes, donde Santa Teresa de Jesús murió. Sus restos se
encuentran en el monasterio de los Carmelitas de la
Anunciación. Vimos su tumba y dos relicarios que manƟenen
su corazón y el brazo derecho. La tumba está situada en lo alto
y en la parte posterior del santuario. Se puede observar desde
adentro de la iglesia y por detrás del santuario en una pequeña
capilla en la que uno puede acercarse a la tumba. Es un
santuario donde se venera a Santa Teresa de Jesús. La
oportunidad de ver la tumba y rezar fue una gran bendición.
En Toro, la ciudad en donde viven las hermanas
NorberƟnas, asisƟmos a una exposición de arte maravillosa en la
Colegiata de Santa María Mayor, una iglesia románica que fue
completada en el siglo 13. Otra parte de la exposición fue en la Iglesia
del Santo Sepulcro. Las obras en exposición de arte estaban basadas
en el tema de agua. La exposición contenía obras anƟguas y
modernas, en su mayoría religiosas. Había pinturas, esculturas y
retablos tallados demostrando el tema de agua de una manera u otra
- bauƟsmos, inundaciones, Jesús caminando sobre el agua, los
apóstoles pescando, etc. Hermoso!

Acerca de nuestro Patrón, San Willebrord - Este fin de semana
rendimos homenaje a nuestro santo patrón y buscamos su
intercesión. El 7 de noviembre de, 2016, marca 1.277 años desde su
muerte. Él sigue siendo un santo muy popular en algunas partes de
Europa, especialmente los Países Bajos, Bélgica y Luxemburgo.

Un Camino del Discipulado
SABADO 12 DE NOVIEMBRE DE 2016
A QUIEN: Para los lideres parroquiales y todos aquellos interesados en crecer como discípulos de Jesús.
QUE ES: Una presentación informativa e inter-actuada con el
padre Bernelli sobre el significado de ser Discípulo de Jesus al
compartir de nuestra generosidad de las bendiciones financieras.
HORA: De 9:30am-2:30pm almuerzo incluido.
DONDE: Iglesia de Santa María,

COSTO: La parroquia pagará el costo de $6.00 para cubrir el
almuerzo.
Venga lo mas pronto posible a la oficina parroquial para llenar
la aplicación si esta interesado en asistir. A mas tardar para el
Jueves a las 11:00 am. Llame con preguntas al 435-2016.
Monseñor Matthew Bernelli (estará dando la platica) es el
párroco emérito de la Parroquia Santa Maria en Bridgeport,
Connecticut. Fue párroco por 35 años. Monseñor Bernelli nació
en Turín, Italia. Se graduó de la Universidad de San Anselmo en Roma y fue ordenado sacerdote en Roma en 1964. Sus
primeros diez años de sacerdocio los pasó
prestando ministerio a los huérfanos y a la
juventud desamparada en Guatemala, El
Salvador, México y Panamá en donde
fundó una Ciudad de los Niños.
El Grupo del Santuario
tendrá su venta anual de pasteles y una
rifa que se celebrara -> Diciembre 3 y 4 <El grupo está pidiendo donaciones de
panadería en un futuro próximo, pero por
ahora ellos también están buscando nuevos
artículos para la rifa. Unas sugerencias
serian tarjetas de regalo, regalos para
niños, utensilios de cocina, y la electrónicos
para nombrar unos pocos. Todas las
donaciones deben ser traídos a la oficina
parroquial antes del 5 de noviembre. Los
boletos estarán en venta desde el 12 y 13
de noviembre, el 19-20, y 26 y 27.

apoyo a nuestra parroquia.

El 31 de diciembre, 2016 estará aquí
antes de que nos demos cuenta.
Sin duda llegara muy rápido!
El final del año llega en medio de una
oleada de actividades que conocemos bien - ir
de comprar, reuniones, conciertos y programas
escolares.
Cada uno de nosotros enfrenta el desafío
de reflexionar sobre las bendiciones que hemos
recibido este año gracias al Señor.
¿Nos tomamos el tiempo para recordar
la bondad que hemos recibido y cómo podemos
dar algo a cambio al Señor compartiendo para
agradecer su infinita bondad?
Sobres especiales
estarán disponibles para la colecta
de Fin de Año. Por favor reflexione
acerca de dar una donación generosa para dar gracias al Señor por
su infinita bondad.

Celebraciones Guadalupanas
Y celebración del 25 aniversario
Ya se acerca la fiesta de la
Santísima Virgen de
Guadalupe. De nuevo este
año el día 11 de Diciembre
la iglesia estará abierta
toda la noche para que
todos tengan la oportunidad
de venir a rezarle o cantarle
a Nuestra Virgencita
Morena.
También invitamos a todos los
grupos, bandas y coros que deseen
cantar durante este festejo, a que nos
llamen y así poder incluirlos en
nuestro Horario de Eventos.
Además les pedimos a todos los que
quieran ayudar con las preparaciones
para esta fiesta que nos llamen a la
oficina para apuntarlos en el grupo de

Venga a rezar el Rosario con Nosotros
Después de la misa diaria de 7:15 quédese a
rezar el rosario. Tómese unos minutos para
unirse en oración con este grupo especial.
Esperamos que nos acompañe.
El Árbol de Obsequios
Cada año damos regalos
Navideños y comida a aproximadamente a 50 familias (alrededor
de 100+ niños).
El 19 de Noviembre, el comité de Asuntos Humanos pondrá un arbolito de navidad con
adornos de papel color rosa y azul. Algunos
adornos son
para ropa y otros son para juguetes. En los
adornos para ropa encontraran la edad y talla de
ropa, y en los de juguetes esta la edad
solamente. Nuestra meta es el proveer 2
prendas de vestir y un juguete para cada niño.
Los invitamos a que ayuden a uno o mas
niños. Tomen un adorno del árbol de obsequios
y compren lo que se pide en el adorno.
Les pedimos que traigan sus regalos
SIN ENVOLVER, y con el adorno bien pegado a
mas tardar el 14 de Diciembre. Si no tienen
tiempo de ir de compras, aceptaremos su
donación monetaria para el regalo y nosotros lo
compraremos por usted. Gracias!
