SANTA CRUZ CATHOLIC SCHOOL/ESCUELA CATOLICA News from the Principal’s Desk Noticias del Escritorio de la Directora This past Monday, Columbus Day, while our students enjoyed their Fall Break, the teachers and I journeyed to the Mayborn Convention Center in Temple, Texas for our annual Diocesan Teacher Institute. We had a very informative day as the presenter, LeAnn Nickelsen, presented a workshop on the topic of formative assessment. As the year continues, our Santa Cruz teachers will focus on this topic and create formative assessments to use in their classrooms. The data presented emphasized the importance of using formative assessments in daily instruction to drive student learning and increase student achievement. It was a really good day! On Friday, October 30th, we will celebrate our 3rd Annual All Saints’ Day Festival. The students will come to school as their favorite saints and every class has a special project to do about their saints. After Mass and our All Saints’ Day Parade, the classes will take turns visiting “Heaven” and enjoying this special day. Have a blessed week, Mrs. Flanagan Non-Discrimination Policy: Schools within the Diocese of Austin do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in: (i) the admission of students; (ii) the offerings of rights, privileges, programs, or activities generally made available to their students; or (iii) the administration of educational policies, admissions policies, loan programs, athletic programs, employment practices or policies, or other school-administered programs.
