Welcome Back to School!
August’s Learner Profile word is Thinker. At Sawyer Road we
teach our students to exercise initiative in applying thinking skills
both critically and creatively. Our students recognize and approach complex problems and make reasoned, ethical decisions. We are proud that our students’ brains are always
working and thinking about a menagerie of things! This
month ask your child about how his brain works and discuss with students
what each member of your family is thinking about around the
dinner
“Always act as though you are wearing
an invisible crown.”
I am not sure who said this, but it reminds me of our IB Attitude of the MonthCONFIDENCE. Students at SRE learn to feel confident in their ability as learners
and have the courage to take risks. Teachers at Sawyer use the IB PYP Programme to teach students ‘crowns of confidence’ in many ways through presentation skills, having students work in groups, and allowing students to act upon
the stage. Students at Sawyer become confident in their thoughts and opinions,
and have been commended by the Marietta 6th grade, Middle School, and High
School for their confidence in asking questions and taking charge of their learning!

Welcome Back to School!
Students may enter the building at 7:45. After 8:15 students
are tardy. Please bring them into the office and sign them in.
All students at Sawyer Road are offered a free breakfast so
please have them here in time to eat before going to class.
If you need childcare before 7:45 you may register for Before
School online at www.mariettacommunityschool.com.

FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL OF OUR CHILDREN:
Afternoon Pick Ups: There will be no student pickups
after 2:45 pm. If you need your child early, please pick
them up before this time.
Transportation Changes: Transportation notes should
be sent with your child in the morning. If you need to
change your child’s transportation during the day we
must have that change in writing. You are welcome to
drop by our school and fill out a transportation change
form. We will NO LONGER accept a fax or a phone
call.

ese cambio por escrito. Usted es Bienvenido a pasar por
nuestra escuela y llenar un formulario de cambio de transporte. Ya no vamos a aceptar un fax.

¡Bienvenido de regreso a la escuela!
El perfíl del Aprendizaje de agosto es Pensador . En la escuela de
Sawyer Road enseñamos a nuestros estudiantes a ejercer la iniciativa en la aplicación de habilidades de pensamiento tanto crítico y
creativo . Nuestros estudiantes reconocen y abordar problemas
complejos y tomar decisiones razonadas y éticas. ¡Estamos orgullosos de que los cerebros de nuestros estudiantes siempre están
trabajando y pensando en una colección de cosas! Este mes
pregunte a su hijo acerca de cómo funciona su cerebro y
discutir con los estudiantes lo que están pensando cada miembro
“Siempre actuar como si usted está usando
una corona invisible"
No estoy seguro quien dijo esto , pero me recuerda
nuestra Actitud de IB del mes-CONFIANZA. Los estudiantes de la escuela de SRE
aprenden a tener confianza en su capacidad como estudiantes y tener el valor
de asumir riesgos. Los maestros en Sawyer Road utilizan el Programa PEP IB para enseñar a los estudiantes “coronas de confianza” de muchas maneras a
través de técnicas de presentación, que los estudiantes trabajan en grupos , y
les permiten a los estudiantes a actuar sobre el escenario. ¡Los estudiantes de
Sawyer Road se convierten confiados en sus pensamientos y opiniones , y han
sido elogiados por el Sixth Grade Academy, Middle School y High School por su
confianza en hacer preguntas y hacerse cargo de su aprendizaje!
