Families and caretakers are asked to transport their relatives and friends to the church that day. Naturally, the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will be offered and a reception will follow. Please tell your friends and neighbors. * * * * * * * * BANNS OF MARRIAGE CARMELO ROSA & JOANNE VASQUEZ * * * * * * * * USE MORE OF YOUR MIND AT MASS ADAPTED FROM FR. JAMES WELDON * “Federal Holiday” Happy Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Day! America celebrates the charismatic, mid-20th century, Baptist minister who was motivated by his deeply-held Christian principles to champion (and eventually give up his life) for the inherent rights each of us possesses from God. Reverend King changed the world. So can we, by living our faith in the public sphere without apology or remorse and always arguing from deeply held faith and moral convictions, not partisan politics! As is our parish custom, the rectory will be closed on Monday, January 18th, and the 5:30 Mass will NOT be celebrated. Prepare at home Don’t go into Sunday Mass waiting to get blindsided. Find out what the readings are going to be beforehand and read them. They can be found in many places. Read them before the Mass. Meditate on the readings. Let Scripture speak to you. * * * * * * * * Excellent, ONLINE CATHOLIC Resources Please be very careful when you look up information about our Catholic faith on the Internet. The best, and official, resource is The Catechism of the Catholic Church. You need trustworthy information, so simply GOOGLE usccbcatechism and click away! Monsignor Sandi and many other priests recommend these reliable sites as well: (1) vaticaninsider.com (2) cruxnow.com (3) catholicnews.com (4) catholic-resources.org (5) wordonfire.org (6) catholicsensibility.wordpress.com (7) archny.org * * * * * * * Free Forum on Human Trafficking On Tuesday evening, February 2nd, we will host a FREE “Forum on Human Trafficking” in the Murphy Center, beginning at 7:00 PM. Notable experts in the vital field will speak: Carol Smolenski, Gonzalo Martinez, Patricia Latona. We encourage everyone to come and learn more about this terrible scourge and what can be done to stop it. Invite a friend! The event is free. Volunteers are needed to help out with the evening – if interested, please contact Melanie Watanabe at [email protected]. * * * * * * * * “Hagan lo que El les diga” Sophia, ChurchMouse Just thought you would like to hear that we’re saving more parish money (your generous donations). We have streamlined the bulk ordering of supplies for household, janitorial, Breakfast Line and Food Pantry supplies. In addition, the frame around the green stained glass window, to the right of the organ, has just been reinstalled so it can be fully closed and locked. As well, three parishioners have made significant donations for the major “Nuts and Bolts” projects we announced two weeks ago. They are now FULLY FUNDED. [Hurrah!] There are many other little (and big) things being done to make better use of the money you entrust to us for the betterment of our parish. What a magnanimous parish! Thank you! We are happy to announce the parish has three new lectors: Carol Joyce, Bryce Gama and Greg Connors. Longtime lector, Stephanie Miller has volunteered to take over from Melanie Watanabe as LECTOR SCHEDULER. Thank you. * * * * * * * Pilgrimage for Life – 2016 Join your fellow New Yorkers – and a markedly diverse group from around the nation – on a Pilgrimage of Prayer, Penance, and Fellowship as we commemorate rd the 43 Anniversary of Roe v. Wade. The March for nd Life will be held Friday, January 22 in Washington, DC. The Archdiocese is providing buses in the city. For more information, pick up a flyer or contact Sr. Shirley at 212-371-1011 or [email protected]. Quienes cumplieron fielmente sus indicaciones fueron los que colaboraron en el milagro. http://www.buzoncatolico.es/homilia2/cicloc/homilia082.html * * * * * * * * Please keep our sick in your prayers: * Local Hero In 2014 we had the pleasure of announcing that Sean Haggerty, son of long-time Holy Trinity parishioners, had taken his First Vows as a Jesuit in Formation.
