the mercy of God with which all of us are called to give
consolation to every man and woman of our time”. The 2016
Annual Catholic Appeal, with its theme, Blessed are the
Merciful for They Shall Obtain Mercy, reminds us that we are
given the opportunity to proclaim the Good News of Jesus
Christ through our actions, touching people’s lives and
offering hope.
Thank you to everyone who made a pledge to the Diocesan
Annual Catholic Appeal over the last two weekends. The gifts
and pledges we have received to date are as follows:

hands-on monitoring of the garden. We are looking for
someone who cares about God’s Earth, loves gardening, and
the ongoing success of the SJ-HA Community Garden.
Among the duties will be checking conditions of the garden
plots on a regular basis, trouble-shooting minor problems, and
coordination of garden volunteers. “What’s in it for me?”, you
may ask. Answer: A free garden plot.
Also looking for volunteers to help with preparatory work at the
beginning of the season, to keep the common areas of the
garden weed free, neat and tidy, and to help with year-end
cleanup. Anyone interested in managing and/or working in
these areas, please contact Lois at (302) 635-4367 or email at

A Vocation Reflection
Fifth Sunday of Easter
St. John tells us in the Book of Revelation that he heard a loud
voice from God’s throne saying “Behold, God’s dwelling is with
the human race.” All of us are called to be signs of God’s
dwelling with us. Some are called to do that in a specific way,
serving Christ and His Church as a priest, a deacon, a religious
sister or a religious brother. If you think God is calling you to a
religious vocation, and if you’re ready to talk about it, please
call or write Father Norman Carroll, Diocesan Director of
Priestly and Religious Vocations at (302) 573-3113 or
[email protected].
Be sure to visit our website,

A reminder from Catholic Cemeteries,
Diocese of Wilmington
The Church teaches that the dying must be given attention and
care to help them live their last moments with dignity and
peace. The prayers of their relatives and friends help them
prepare to meet God. Once a person has died, their body
must be treated with respect and charity, in faith and hope of
the Resurrection. The burial of the dead is a corporal work of
mercy. Prayer for the dying and dead is a spiritual work of
mercy. Preparing for our death and funeral are gifts we give to
those we leave behind. The experienced family service staff at
our diocesan Catholic cemeteries, Cathedral and All Saints in
New Castle County and Gate of Heaven in Sussex County,
can provide you with the practical advice you need. For more
information, visit the website at www.cathcemde.com, or call
the cemetery office, (302) 656-3323.

V DOMINGO DE PASCUA
LECTURAS DE ESTE DOMINGO.
I Lectura Hechos 14:21-27
Salmo Responsorial 145 “Bendesiré tu
nombre por siempre jamás. Dios mío, mi
Rey”.
II Lectura Apocalipsis 21:1-5
Evangelio Juan13::31-33,34-35
pierda.
bendiciones.
