Principal’s Message 2/13/13
New Teacher for Room 106!
We are glad to announce that we will be bringing on a new teacher here at Sunnyside. As you may
know from previous Principal’s Messages, our Special Day Class teacher in Room 106 resigned due
to personal reasons. Dustin Cole will soon join our team as the new teacher in Room 106. He comes
to us with SDC experience on staff at Sanchez Elementary School. Dustin has a host of great ideas
and a contagious enthusiasm and we are very pleased to have him join our team.
School Lunch Information
The new school lunches provided by Revolution Foods have been a great success in SFUSD and
Sunnyside. Since Winter Break, students eating school lunches in the district increased by 11%.
Many people who are new to the school lunch program have questions. If you do, please contact the
school nutrition department directly at [email protected] or 749-3604. They will be happy to
help you.
Responsible Ridership Week 2/25-3/1
On March 1st, 2013, thousands of SFUSD students will begin participating in SF MTA’s Free MUNI for
Youth (FMFY) Program and ride San Francisco’s public transportation system for FREE! In
acknowledgement and appreciation of this very generous opportunity provided to our students and
their families, SFUSD has named the week of February 25th – March 1st, 2013 “Responsible
Ridership Week.” We will join other schools in SFUSD in an art contest celebrating this event. Your
child’s teacher will have information on this contest and how to submit entries.
Middle School Feeder Clarification (repeated information)
I want to take this opportunity to clarify some information about the Middle School Feeder Program.
The plans for this will be in full effect for students that are 5th graders in the 2016-2017 school year
(this year’s 1st graders). If your child will transition from Sunnyside to middle school in a prior year,
you will go through the application process as has been done for this year. For enrollment in the
2017-2018 school year, students will have a guaranteed spot in their feeder if they opt for it, but
families may still apply to other middle schools if they desire.

Nuevo maestro para habitación 106!
Estamos encantados de anunciar que nos traerá un nuevo profesor aquí en Sunnyside. Como
ustedes saben de mensajes del anterior director, nuestro maestro de clase especial en habitación
106 renunció por motivos personales. Dustin Cole pronto se unirá a nuestro equipo como el nuevo
profesor en habitación 106. Él viene a nosotros con la experiencia de la COSUDE en el personal en
la escuela primaria de Sanchez. Dustin tiene una serie de grandes ideas y un entusiasmo contagioso
y estamos muy contentos de tenerlo en nuestro equipo.

Aclaración de alimentador de secundaria (información repetida)
Quiero aprovechar esta oportunidad para aclarar alguna información sobre el programa de
alimentación secundaria. Los planes para esto será en efecto completo para los estudiantes que son
alumnos de 5º grado en el año 2016-2017 (este 1st grado). Si su hijo pasará de Sunnyside a la
escuela media en un año anterior, usted pasará a través del proceso de aplicación, como se ha
hecho para este año. Para la inscripción en el año 2017-2018, los estudiantes tendrán un lugar
garantizado en su alimentador si optan por ella, pero las familias pueden aplicar a otras escuelas del
medio si desean.
