REJOICE AND BE GLAD
During the first three or four centuries of Christianity, if you asked a Christian to name the
feast days of the church, your answer would have been a puzzled stare, for there was only
one feast: the Resurrection of the Lord. Every Sunday was a feast celebrating the one great
feast. Even though our calendar now has many beautiful and holy feasts, we must
continually be called back to the fact that all these other feasts exist because of the feast of
Christ’s passover from death to life. The psalm today proclaims this message well: ―This is
the day.‖ It is not one of many days, but it is the day of all days, the one that gives all the
others their origin, purpose, meaning, and destiny. Listen carefully to Peter’s speech in Acts
with its recollection of the Passion, to the words of the apostle Paul, and to the account of
Mary Magdalene, John, and Peter finding the empty tomb, and you will hear the many
wonderful works that God has done for us through Christ. Rejoice and be glad!

Durante los primeros tres o cuatro siglos del cristianismo, si se le preguntaba a un cristiano
el nombre de las fiestas de la Iglesia, su respuesta habría sido una mirada de sorpresa
porque había una sola fiesta: la Resurrección del Señor. Cada domingo era una celebración
de la gran fiesta. A pesar de que nuestro calendario tiene ahora muchas fiestas hermosas y
santas, continuamente debemos ser llamados de nuevo al hecho de que todas estas fiestas
existen a causa de la fiesta del paso (Pascua) de Cristo de la muerte a la vida. El Salmo de
hoy proclama este mensaje así: ―Este es el día‖. No es uno de muchos días, pero es el día de
todos los días, el que da a todos los demás su origen, propósito, significado y destino.
Escuchen con atención el discurso de Pedro en Hechos recordando la Pasión, las palabras
del apóstol Pablo y al recuento que hacen María Magdalena, Juan y Pedro al encontrar la
tumba vacía, y oirán las obras maravillosas que Dios ha hecho para nosotros en Cristo.

lớn đó là: Ngày Chúa Sống Lại. Mỗi Chúa Nhật là một ngày lễ mừng ngày lễ trọng đại.
Mặc dù lịch của chúng ta bây giờ có nhiều ngày lễ cả, chúng ta phải được tiếp tục nhớ lại
dữ kiện là tất cả những lễ lớn khác hiện hữu bởi vì ngày lễ vượt qua từ sự chết tới sự sống
của Chúa Kitô. Thánh Vịnh hôm nay rao truyền thông điệp này rất rõ: "Đây chính là ngày."

The meaning of Easter is
Jesus Christ's victory over
death. His resurrection
symbolizes the eternal life
that is granted to all who
believe in him. The meaning of Easter also symbolizes the complete verification of all that Jesus
preached and taught during his three-year ministry.
If he had not risen from
the dead, if he had only
died and not been resurrected, he would have
been considered just another teacher or Rabbi.
However, his resurrection
changed all that and gave
final and accomplished
proof that he was really
the Son of God and that
he had defeat death once
and for all.

Sau khi Đức Kitô phục sinh, các môn đệ biến đổi
lạ lùng. Maria Mácđala buồn sầu ảm đạm trở nên
phấn khởi vui tươi. Tô-ma cứng cỏi trở nên tin
tưởng. Hai môn đệ Emmau lạnh lùng trở nên sốt
mến. Tất cả các môn đệ hèn yếu trở nên vững mạnh,
từ ích kỷ nhỏ nhen chỉ biết lo cho quyền lợi bản thân
trở nên quảng đại hiến thân cho Nước Chúa, từ chia
rẽ tranh dành địa vị trở nên đoàn kết yêu thương, từ
khép kín trở nên cởi mở đi đến với mọi người. Chúa
Phục sinh đổ vào tâm hồn các ngài một nguồn sống
mới. Tâm hồn các ngài được ơn phục sinh. Ơn phục
sinh được tóm tắt trong một câu ngắn gọn: "Ông đã
thấy và ông đã tin". Nhờ đâu các ngài đã thấy?
Các ngài đã thấy nhờ gắn bó với Chúa. Thương
nhớ Thày, nên khi ngày Sabbat vừa chấm dứt các
ngài đã vội vã ra thăm mộ Thày. Các ngài không đi,
nhưng chạy. Các ngài chạy vì muốn thu ngắn quãng
đường. Các ngài chạy vì muốn thu ngắn mọi khoảng
cách ngăn các ngài với Chúa. Các ngài muốn ở sát
bên Chúa. Các ngài muốn kết hiệp với Chúa. Các
ngài đã thấy vì đã biết dứt bỏ quá khứ. Khi nhìn vào
mộ, các ngài thấy gì? Các ngài không thấy gì hết!
Ngôi mộ trống rỗng. Không có gì, nhưng các ngài
thấy tất cả. Nếu xác Chúa còn đó thì thật đáng buồn.
Xác còn có nghĩa là Chúa vẫn còn trong thế giới kẻ
chết. Ngôi mộ còn xác là ngôi mộ gieo niềm tuyệt
vọng. Ngôi mộ trống là ngôi mộ chứa đầy niềm hi
vọng. Ngôi mộ trống là một khởi điểm mới, là khối
hỗn mang để Chúa làm nên một trời mới đất mới.
Các ngài hiểu rằng không nên gắn bó với xác chết
nhưng nên gắn bó với Đức Kitô đang sống. Không
nên gắn bó với quá khứ chết chóc, nhưng nên gắn bó
với tương lai tràn đầy sự sống.
Các ngài đã thấy vì đã có thái độ khiêm nhường.
Tin mừng thuật lại: Các ngài đã "cúi xuống nhìn vào
ngôi mộ". Khi cúi xuống nhìn vào ngôi mộ, các ngài
không thấy Chúa. Nhưng càng cúi xuống sâu các
ngài thấy rõ mình. Chìm xuống đáy lòng như chìm
xuống đáy đại dương, xa mọi sóng gió xôn xao.
Càng nhìn vào đáy lòng mình, càng bắt gặp niềm
bình an. Bình an là quà tặng Chúa Phục sinh rộng rãi
ban phát cho các môn đệ sau khi Người sống lại. Các
ngài đã thấy vì đã nhìn với ánh mắt tin yêu. Thánh
Gioan quan sát kỹ hiện trường nên đã miêu tả rất cặn
kẽ: Khi ở ngoài mộ nhìn vào "Ông thấy những băng
vải còn ở đó". Khi đã bước vào trong mộ, Ông "thấy
những băng vải để ở đó và khăn che đầu Đức Giêsu.
Khăn này không để lẫn với các băng vải, nhưng cuốn
lại, xếp riêng ra một nơi".
Là người gần gũi, quen biết các thói quen của
Thày, thánh Gio-an lập tức nhận ra dấu vết Người để
lại. Khăn liệm được xếp đặt gọn gàng chứng tỏ bàn
tay Người tự xếp đặt. Người tự xếp đặt tức là Người
đang sống. Người bỏ khăn liệm vì Người không còn
trong thế giới kẻ chết. Trái tim yêu mến đã làm cho
thánh Gioan nhạy bén cảm nhận được mầu nhiệm
phục sinh. Hôm nay, Đức Kitô phục sinh đang tuôn
đổ ơn lành xuống cho ta. Để đón nhận được ơn lành
của Người, ta hãy học tập nơi các môn đệ, biết tha
thiết gắn bó với Người trong lúc vui cũng như lúc
buồn, biết dứt khoát với quá khứ tội lỗi lười biếng,
trì trệ, biết khiêm nhường chìm vào đáy sâu tâm hồn,
biết nhìn thế giới bằng ánh mắt tin yêu.
Với những phấn đấu như thế, ta sẽ đón nhận được
ơn Chúa Phục sinh. Chúa sẽ tuôn đổ Ơn Phục Sinh
tràn ngập tâm hồn ta, biến đổi ta nên người mới, tràn
đầy niềm vui, tràn đầy niềm hi vọng, tràn đầy sự
quảng đại, tràn đầy tình yêu mến. Lạy Đức Kitô phục
sinh, xin cho linh hồn con được sống lại thật. Amen.
KIỂM ĐIỂM ĐỜI SỐNG
1. Chỉ một lần mừng lễ Phục sinh, tâm hồn các tông đồ
đã đổi mới hoàn toàn. Còn ta, đã bao lần mừng lễ Phục
sinh, sao ta chưa thay đổi đời sống?
2. Khi ngắm thứ nhất mùa Mừng: "Đức Chúa Giêsu
sống lại, ta hãy xin cho được sống lại thật về phần linh
hồn", bạn suy nghĩ gì? Bạn có thực sự tha thiết đổi mới
cuộc đời không?
3. Bạn sẽ làm gì để sống ơn Phục sinh Chúa ban?

event. Christ is Risen and evinces in us a deep desire to
once again seek a new life to allow Christ to really become a part of us. This will bring Peace into our life,
and give to this great Feast, its true meaning.

Biến cố vui mừng Phục Sinh, đó là sự sống lại
của Đấng Cứu Độ Giêsu Kitô Chúa chúng ta,
cho gia đình Giáo Xứ chúng ta một biến cố ân
sủng thực sự. Đức Kitô sống lại và chứng tỏ
trong chúng ta một niềm mong ước sâu thẳm
để một lần nữa tìm kiếm một cuộc sống mới,
để cho phép Chúa Kitô thực sự trở nên một
phần của chúng ta. Sự này sẽ mang An Bình
vào cuộc sống chúng ta, và mang tới ngày Đại
Lễ này ý nghĩa thực sự của nó.
Đây cũng là một dịp tốt để cám ơn quý vị đã
