MINISTRY OF CONSOLATION
The mission of the Ministry of Consolation is to
walk with and support with loving care those
who are grieving for lost loved ones.
The Ministry of Consolation is looking for volunteers to help with funeral preparations.
Duties would include:
-Contacting the bereaved family to
set up a meeting.
-To complete funeral forms for infor
mation pertaining to the deceased.
-Return funeral forms to the Rectory.
-Notify the Rectory for booklets.
-Contact one of the cake bakers.
-Attend the funeral Mass.
*They are also in need of bakers*

The Knights of Columbus Council 9267 will be meeing, Monday, November 9. Officers will meet at 7pm, at 8pm will be the general

DEL POR QUE VENERAMOS
A LA VIRGEN MARIA
María "colaboró de manera totalmente singular a la obra
del Salvador por su fe, esperanza y ardiente amor, para
restablecer la vida sobrenatural de los hombres. Por esta
razón es nuestra Madre en el orden de la gracia" (Concilio
Vaticano II, LG 61).
Esta maternidad de María perdura desde el consentimiento
que dio fielmente en la Anunciación y se mantuvo sin vacilar
al pie de la Cruz. En Belén, María da a luz a su Hijo Jesús,
comenzando su misión de Madre; en el Calvario, al pie de
la Cruz donde Jesús entrega la vida por nosotros, María
"da a luz" a la Iglesia, representada en la persona de San
Juan "el discípulo amado" (Cf. Jn 19, 2527).
La misión maternal de María para con los hombres no disminuye ni opaca la única mediación de Cristo.
María influye en la salvación de los hombres por la sobreabundancia de los méritos de Cristo, se apoya en su mediación, depende totalmente de ella. La única mediación
del Redentor no excluye, sino que suscita en las criaturas
una colaboración diversa que participa de la única fuente.

The Mass of the Resurrection
Last
Monday
we
celebrated
the
“Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed”,
more commonly called “All Souls’ Day”. This begins
the month of November during which Catholics
pray more fervently for all their departed loved
ones, all who have died in God’s grace but not yet
reached the full presence of God.
When a Catholic dies, the Church offers
what is correctly called the “Mass of the
Resurrection”, because it celebrates the
Resurrection of Christ, in which all the members of
Christ’s body share. At Easter time we sing that
Christ has “conquered death”! It is at the time of
our death that we claim this inheritance.
While the death of a loved one is full of
sorrow at our loss, the Mass of the Resurrection is
our solace. It is filled with encouraging scripture
readings, and climaxes in the Eucharistic Prayer, in
which we offer Jesus to the Father and receive His
body and blood, the pledge of our inheritance.
Everything about this Mass looks to the future, not
to the past.
Next week I would like to continue this
discussion. Since my job includes selecting the
music for the funeral Mass, I will also focus on the
choice of songs which are most appropriate at that
moment.
