what would you do with it?

THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
NOVEMBER 15, 2015
From the Pastor’s Desk
GETTING THROUGH THE TOUGH TIMES
“It’s going to get worse before it gets better” is
a phrase that prepares us to buckle up for a rough ride.
We know that enduring a difficult time will require some
strenuous physical or emotional energy on our part before
we experience the calm of normality. Our past experience
tells us that we can endure the difficult pressure better when
we know how long it will last and if we know that something better awaits us. Getting through the tough times while
holding to the promise that awaits us is the message of this
weekend’s readings. They point toward the promises of
God’s kingdom that will come after the maelstroms and
chaos of this world.

Community Food Bank
Thank you pantry supporters. The pantry is open from
9AM to 11AM on the second and fourth Wednesday of
each month at Faith Lutheran Church on Hallee Road in
Joshua Tree. Please remember to continue to support the
pantry. In October, we served 259 families, consisting of 493 people which includes 23 new families. Because of the generous donations from St. Mary’s, St. Christopher’s, Desert Hills Presbyterian, Good Shepherd Lutheran and Faith Lutheran churches, we were
able to hand out a lot of good, quality food to needy families of the
Morongo Basin. Your donations of money are always welcome.
We need the following food items: cereal, oatmeal, and canned
items such as soup, stew, fruit, and tuna. We also need powdered
milk, potatoes, spaghetti and sauce. Thank you everyone for your
support! Deacon Glenn Miller, Pantry President 760-401-7518.
