Remote Resetting of Servers
Need:
A systems integration company indicated to us the
need of one of its clients of remotely resetting a
series of servers that presented failures or problems,
for any reason (Voltage drop, operating system
failure, etc). The servers were part of a corporate
WAN.
Solution:
SERVER
A decision was made to use the DABIN device of the
family of supervision devices via Internet.

Power
The DABIN device was connected on one side to the
corporate WAN by means of its Ethernet connection,
and on the other side, two digital outputs of the
equipment were connected to two command relays.

These relays acted as an “on-off” switch for the
servers' “Power” and "Reset” buttons (after previous
connection work within the server).
Then, a simple web page was designed, to be able to
switch on and off the relays from any computer
connected to the Internet.

This way, in case of failure in the servers the buttons
were remotely activated, in order to restore their
correct operations without the need of getting close
to them.
