St. Patrick's Day Schedule
A special St. Patrick’s Day Mass with the Ancient
Order of Hibernians will be celebrated on Thursday
March 17th at 9:00 am in the upper church. In observance
of our Archdiocese's patron saint, the St. John-Visitation
Parish Pastoral Center and Office will have limited hours
of operation and be open only in the evening from 6:009:00 pm on Thursday March 17th.
24 Hours for the Lord
Responding to Pope Francis' request for parishes
to have "24 Hours for the Lord", a day with prayer and
penance during Lent, St. John-Visitation Parish will be
having continuous Eucharistic adoration in the lower
church beginning Friday March 18th at 1:00 pm through
Saturday March 19th until 3:00 pm. Following
Benediction on Saturday, opportunities for Sacrament of
Reconciliation (confessions both in English and Spanish)
will be available from 3:00-5:00 pm.
Consider accepting the invitation of Lord to his
disciples: “Could you not keep watch with me for one
hour?” (Matthew 26:40) during the "24 Hours for the
Lord"
Parish Lenten Retreat Day Movie
Mark your calendars for March 20th (Palm
Sunday) with the opportunity to view the highly acclaimed
1989 Paulist Pictures' movie, Romero as a spiritual way to
enter into the journey of Holy Week. Viewings will be held
at 12:45 pm (English) and 2:30 pm (Spanish) in the lower
meeting room at the St. John-Visitation Parish Pastoral
Center (275 West 230th St.)
Romero depicts the life of Salvadoran Archbishop
Oscar Romero who organized peaceful protests against the
guerilla military regime in El Salvador and ultimately
became a 20th century martyr for his witness against the
social injustices taking place in his country.
Archbishop Oscar Romero was recently beatified
on May 23, 2015. In Pope Francis' letter read at the
beatification ceremony, he noted that "Archbishop Romero
constructed peace with the force of love, gave testimony of
his faith by both his life and death." This movie is well
worth seeing if you have not already seen it or viewing it
once again.
Reconciliation Monday
St. John-Visitation Parish will be joining other
parishes throughout the Archdiocese of New York and the
Dioceses of Brooklyn and Rockville Center in offering
opportunities for individual confessions on Monday March
21st from 3:00 to 9:00 PM. The availability of the
Sacrament of Reconciliation on the Monday of Holy Week
is a spiritual way to experience God’s love, mercy, and
forgiveness in preparation for the celebration of the
Paschal Triduum and the Easter season.
Our parish’s celebration of Reconciliation Monday will
begin with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the
lower church at 3:00 pm, Eucharistic adoration
throughout the afternoon and evening, and will conclude
with Benediction prior to 9:00 pm.
Lost & Found
Various items (prayer books, clothing items,
eyeglasses, devotional items, etc.) that have been found
and left in both the upper and lower church are turned in
at our "lost and found" box in the sacristy. If you think
that you may have lost something or misplaced item at our
parish, please check the "lost and found" box in the church
sacristy. We have a collection of items waiting to be
claimed and retrieved by the rightful owner.

Parish Holy Land Pilgrimage Update
A limited number of spaces remain for this
coming Fall's parish Holy Land Tour in celebration of the
Jubilee Year of Mercy, 44 participants have already
registered. TriStar Tours will be able to accommodate a
total of 60 pilgrims. Both Fr. Kerrigan and Fr. Antonio
will be part of our parish Holy Land pilgrimage.
A $50 Early Bird Discount is available until April
30th. The total cost based on double occupancy is $2893
including air fare, hotel accommodations, tour bus,
breakfast and dinner meals, fuel surcharge, airport taxes
and fees, gratuities. Brochures are available in the church
and at the St. John-Visitation Parish Pastoral Center. If

Year of Mercy: Pilgrimage of New York
On Saturday April 16th, a Jubilee Year of Mercy
pilgrimage of New York will be held. The day begins at
9:00 am with Opening Prayers at the Shrine of St. Frances
Xavier Cabrini (701 Fort Washington Avenue, New York,
NY) and will continue with walking the length of
Manhattan island visiting churches in honor of The Jubilee
Year of Mercy. Two churches that have been designated
with Jubilee Year Holy Doors , St. Frances Xavier Cabrini
Shrine and St. Patrick's Cathedral, will be visited. The day
will conclude at 6:15 pm with a Pilgrims' Mass at the
Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton (7 State Street, New
York, NY). The total length of this walking pilgrimage is
13.5 miles.

of a passing into eternal life will be included among the
names read in the Prayers of General Intercession at the

Una misa especial para el Día de San Patricio
con la Antigua Orden de Hibernians se celebrará el jueves

24 Horas para el Señor

Retiro Cuaresmal día de Película
Marquen sus calendarios para el 20 de marzo

Romero describe la vida de monseñor Óscar
Romero, arzobispo salvadoreño que organizo las protestas
pacíficas contra el régimen militar de la guerrilla en El
Salvador y, en última instancia, se convirtió en un mártir
del siglo 20 por su testimonio en contra de las injusticias
sociales que tienen lugar en su país.
Arzobispo Oscar Romero fue recientemente
beatificado el 23 de mayo de 2015. En la carta de Papa
Francisco la carta leída en la ceremonia de beatificación,
señaló que "el Arzobispo Romero construye la paz con la
fuerza del amor, dio testimonio de su fe, tanto por su vida
y su muerte." La película Romero vale la pena ver si no lo
han visto ya o ver una vez más.
Lunes de Reconciliación
San Juan Visitación-Parroquia se unirá con otras
parroquias de la Arquidiócesis de Nueva York y las
Diócesis de Brooklyn y Rockville Center en ofrecer
oportunidades para las confesiones individuales el lunes
21 de marzo de 3:00-9:00 pm. La disponibilidad del
Sacramento de la Reconciliación el lunes de la Semana
Santa es una manera espiritual para experimentar el
amor, la misericordia y el perdón de Dios en la
preparación para la celebración del Triduo Pascual y el
tiempo de Pascua.
La celebración de nuestra parroquia de la
Reconciliación lunes se comenzará con la exposición del

Año de la Misericordia: Peregrinación de Nueva York
El sábado 16 de abril se llevará a cabo una
peregrinación jubilar del Año de la Misericordia de Nueva
York. El día comienza a las 9:00 am con oraciones de
apertura en el santuario de St. Frances Xavier Cabrini
(701 Fort Washington Avenue, New York, NY) y
continuará con caminar la longitud de la isla de
Manhattan visitando iglesias en honor del Jubileo del Año
de la Misericordia. Se visitarán dos iglesias que han sido

Xavier Cabrini santuario y la catedral de San Patricio,. La
