Code Purple Needs You!
St. John-Holy Angels has joined the Newark Empowerment
Center, a collaborativ e ministry of Newark area churches, to
help the homeless and displaced in Newark, especially during
the winter months, with Code Purple at Holy F amily Church.
Happy Catholic Schools Week!
(January 29 – February 3)
It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that we embark
upon the celebration of Catholic Schools Week 2012! Schools
throughout the nation will be celebrating the theme of “Faith,
Academics and Serv ice”. Holy Angels School has many
wonderf ul activ ities planned to spread the message and
awareness of the gif ts that are shared here among students,
staf f and parents. Please keep us in pray er as we continue to
liv e and exemplif y the Franciscan charism that def ines the
mission statement of our school!
When the temperatures drop to 20 degrees or lower, area
churches open their sanctuaries as a hav en f rom the cold.
This is not a shelter; there are no showers or lockers. It is
simply a warm, saf e room where people with no place to go
that night can get in out of the cold. It is open f rom 6:00 PM at
night to 6:00 AM in the morning. The host church prov ides a
light supper in the ev ening, hot bev erages through the night,
and the Newark Empowerment Center prov ides transportation
f or those who need it in the morning.
Volunteers are needed to help at Holy Family Church when it
hosts Code Purple.
Would y ou like to be one of the St. John-Holy Angels
Volunteers?
If y ou’re looking f or a way to serv e y our
community , y our parish has the answer. Contact Diane Fisher
at (302) 731-6864 or v ia email at jdf [email protected] f or
