Through Word and Eucharist, we seek the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit, embracing the love of our Creator in each thought, word, and action. As humble servants of God, we remain faithful to the teachings of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, waiting in joyful hope for our Lord’s coming. Reflexión Semanal Weekly Reflection Loving God and One Another Amar a Dios y al prójimo Today’s readings and prayers bring us to the understanding that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies and laws. We focus on the Ten Commandments which are enumerated in the first reading from the Book of Exodus. The first three commandments govern our relationship with God as we acknowledge that He is the one and only God, whose name we reverence and whose day we keep holy. In today’s gospel, when Jesus drives the money changers from the temple, He reminds us that these three precepts must govern our relationship with His Father. He challenges the Jews to remember the commandments and He tells them that there will be a new sacrifice. The old ways will give way to the new as He promises to “destroy this temple and in three days raise it up.” He is speaking of His passion and resurrection which they do not understand. Paul references this misunderstanding in the epistle when he writes, “we proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.” Jesus has become the Paschal Sacrifice. The refrain of today’s psalm captures the joy of this realization, “Lord, you have the words of everlasting life.” The psalm reminds us that when we embrace God’s precepts, “the fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever.” This is the relationship we seek with the Father, to be in awe of His everlasting love. If our relationship with God is holy, our relationships with one another will also be holy. The two are intrinsically woven. The commandments show us the way to love one another. We rejoice knowing that Jesus showed us how to embrace the commandments which ensures us a path way to heaven. -2- Parish Life Baptisms Happy Anniversary Please pray for the recently baptized as they begin their journey in the Body of Christ Ismael & Juana Martin 37 Years on March 4 —————————————————— In Remembrance To list anniversary, please email [email protected] by 5pm the Friday of the week before you wish it published. Safe Environment DID YOU KNOW? Teaching children about boundaries and safe touches is healthy Teaching children about boundaries and safe touches is not sex education. There are many safety issues we teach children: bike safety, water safety, fire prevention, driver's training, etc. Personal safety programs should have age appropriate lessons that give children the skills they need to protect themselves without frightening them. Keeping children unaware of the dangers around them does not keep them safe. Predators count on children not knowing what to do.
