Prayer for My Parish
Almighty God, my parish is composed of
people like me. I help make it what it is.
It will be friendly if I am.
It will be holy if I am.
Its pews will be filled if I help fill them.
It will do great work if I work.
It will be prayerful if I pray.
It will make generous gi s to
many causes if I am a generous giver.
It will bring other people into
its worship if I invite and bring them.
It will be a parish family of loyalty
and love, of fearlessness and faith,
of compassion, charity and mercy
if I—who make it what it is am filled with these same quali es.
Therefore, with the help of God,
I will dedicate myself to the task
of being all the things that I
want my parish to be.
Bless my journey, Lord God,
that I might build the Church
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Hará ofrendas generosas a muchas

3 year Presentation
A Very Successful BackPack Program Year… Thanks to YOU! Dear SJV Family,
Because you are a loving and charitable
community, our parish this school year has helped
eight Annette Wynn Elementary School children
with food that they otherwise would not have had.
You sent them home each week with a backpack
full of food that would help meet their nutrition
needs over the weekend when they are not
provided breakfast and lunch at school. You have
kept our backpack cabinets full of food and have
given our program a good head start for the
coming school year.
Although this past week was the last week for your
donations this year, please keep an eye on our
bulletin for information about the BackPack
Program startup in early August. And think about
this challenge, please. Can we serve more than
eight students over the coming year? It’s up to
you!
Thank you for blessing these children. They will
learn better because they are better nourished
through your efforts. May the Good Lord bless you
for your generosity, and may you continue to bless
our AWES students as your proactively live your
Catholic faith.

VACATION TIME!! Don’t leave home without HIM!
Summer is here and the youth are out of school, everyone will be planning their vacations. Time will be spent visiting places
where we will enjoy the beaches, water, mountains, valleys and other natural, beautiful and scenic places that God has created
for our eyes to behold and enjoy. Let us remember to bring God with us on these trips by remembering who created us and
those things we are enjoying. Remember to visit Him in the churches in the areas you are visiting. But let us remember to visit
Him physically before we leave and ask for an enjoyable and safe trip by coming to St. John Vianney’s church on Friday, June 3,
2016, beginning with Mass at 8:00AM and followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 8:30AM until 7:00PM. He
will be waiting to listen to you and bestow His blessings upon you. If you would like to commit to a particular time monthly or
have any questions, please call Herb Blanchard at 678-945-7585 or e-mail me at [email protected].
Please sign in and out on the table in the rear of the chapel so we can be sure that
someone is visiting our Lord all the time He is exposed in the Monstrance.
Jesus Thanks you for your visit!
Todays Readings
Lecturas de hoy
Genesis 14:18-20
1st Corinthians/ 1ra de CorinƟos 11:23-26
“Melchizedek, king of Salem
(Jerusalem),” (Gen 14:18) blesses Abram in
today’s first reading. As a “priest of God Most
High,” (El Elyon in Hebrew) who is the
primary god among the Canaanite people, he
blesses Abram, and prepares a feast of “bread
and wine” (v.18) in his honor, blessing both
Abram and “God Most High, who delivered
your foes into your hand.” (v.20) The psalmist (110:4)
views the priesthood of Melchizedek as a perpetual
priesthood. In Hebrews 7 Melchizedek is viewed as a
prefigurement of Christ.
Paul’s narration of the Institution of the Eucharist is
the oldest surviving text concerning the Last Supper. He
narrates Jesus’ words and actions at the Supper and then
goes on to remind the Corinthians that “as often as you eat
this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the
Lord.” (I Cor 13:26) By sharing in the Lord’s Supper we
share in the life and death of Christ. These words of Paul,
written in the 50s, are already a traditional formula by the
time he writes them, giving us some insight into the life
and spirituality of the earliest believers as concerns their
understanding of the Eucharist.
Jesus’ miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fish
anticipates the gift of the Eucharist. In both texts Jesus
takes, blesses, breaks and gives. Although the initiative
comes from Jesus, the disciples play a key role in that he
“gave them to the disciples to set before the
people.” (9:16) God sometimes uses our hands and feet to
do the work of the gospel.
For Reflection: Is my sharing in the Eucharist an
important part of my spiritual life? How can my
hands and feet be used to do God’s work more
fruitfully?
“Melquisedec, Rey de Salem (Jerusalén),” (Gen
14:18) bendice Abran en la primera lectura de
hoy.
perpetuo.

Weekly Stewardship Scripture Reflection
In today’s Gospel, the disciples suggest that Jesus disperse
the crowd so that they might individually seek food and
lodging. The miracle of the feeding of the five thousand is
Jesus’ powerful reminder that when we share our gifs in His
name there is always more than enough!
