BILINGUAL MASS
Faithful Citizenship
This Tuesday, November 4, the citizens of Minnesota will
have the opportunity to vote for its next governor, a federal
Senator and Congressional representatives, new school
board members and various other public officials. We
Catholics are obligated to educate ourselves about the
candidates and evaluate them with regards to how they
support the common good of all in our community. There is
not a single candidate or party that reflects all of what we
Catholics want for this world.
In the summary document of their reflection Forming
Consciences for Faithful Citizenship, our bishops say: “The
Church’s obligation to participate in shaping the moral
character of society is a requirement of our faith, a part of
the mission given to us by Jesus Christ….As people of faith
and reason, Catholics are called to bring truth to political
life and to practice Christ’s commandment to ‘love one
another.’
In the Catholic Tradition, responsible citizenship is a virtue,
and participation in political life is a moral obligation. As
Catholics, we should be guided more by our moral
convictions than by our attachment to a political party or
interest group….Even those who cannot vote should raise
their voices on matters that affect their lives and the
common good. Both opposing evil AND doing good are
essential….The basic right to life implies and is linked to
other human rights to the goods that every person needs to
live and thrive: food, shelter, health care, education and
meaningful work. The use of the death penalty, hunger,
lack of health care or housing, human trafficking, the
human and moral costs of war, and unjust immigration
policies are some of the serious moral issues that challenge
our consciences and require us to act.” Life is
complicated. Our politicians and society, in general, have
many challenges to face. Let’s do our part by educating
ourselves about the candidates and praying that the
common good will be served by our elected officials. And,
those that are able, get out and VOTE on Tuesday!

on November 9. If you have not already done so, please
bring a photo of your beloved deceased to put on our Day

Do you want to learn to help during an emergency? Come
and learn what to do when the heart of an adult or child
stops beating. We'll teach you how to do CPR
(Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) hands only. Class is free.

Minneapolis Insitute of Arts
Minneapolis Institute of Arts announces it 7 th annual
Young People’s Ofrenda:
“Expressions of Life and Remembrance” exhibition.
Admission is free. Exhibit is through November 30. ln the,
Community Commons Gallery, 2400 3rd Avenue South,
Minneapolis.

wonderful food that will be prepared for this celebrations.

foods like meat & vegetables. Please mark your donations
“For the Guadalupe fiesta” and bring them to the office or

nov. Si no lo ha hecho, favor de traer un foto de
un ser querido que ha fallecido para poner en el altar
de los muertos. ¡Les esperamos a todos!
REFLEXIÓN
2 de noviembre, 2014
Este martes, el 4 de noviembre, los ciudadanos de MN van
a tener la oportunidad de votar para su gobernador, sus
congresistas federales, miembros de la junta directiva de
las escuelas públicas y oficiales de varios otros puestos.
Como católicos, tenemos la obligación de educarnos
acerca de los candidatos y evaluarlos en cómo están
preocupándose para el bien común de todos en nuestra
sociedad. No hay ningún candidato ni partido político
que abarca todo lo que queremos como católicos para
nuestro mundo.
“Como católicos no votamos basándonos en una sola
cuestión. La posición de un candidato respeto a una sola
cuestión no es suficiente para garantizar el apoyo del
votante…Oponerse a actos intrínsecamente malos
debería también ayudarnos en reconocer nuestro deber
positivo de contribuir al bien común y de actuar
solidariamente con los necesitados.
…El derecho fundamental a la vida implica y está ligado
a otros derechos humanos, a los bienes fundamentales
que toda persona humana necesita para vivir y
desarrollarse plenamente, incluyendo el alimento, la
vivienda, el cuidado médico, la educación y el trabajo
digno. El uso de la pena de muerte, el hambre, la falta de
cuidado médico o vivienda, el tráfico humano, el costo
humano y moral de la guerra y las políticas de
inmigración injustas son algunas de las cuestiones morales
que retan a nuestra conciencia y requieren que
actuemos.” (Formando Ciudadanos Fieles, USCCB)
La vida de hoy es muy compleja. Los políticos y nuestra sociedad en
general tienen muchos retos para enfrentar. Hagamos nuestra parte de
educarnos acerca de los candidatos y orar para que se mantengan en
cuenta el bien común de todos. Y, los que pueden, VOTEN el
martes, 4 de noviembre.

colaboración de todos para que los eventos del
diciembre sean un gran éxito. Favor de apoyar con lo
que se pueda de la siguiente lista:
--harina de maíz para tamales
--azucar --pasas --latas de piña y fresas
